Quick Recap of what is happening in Augusta. The democrats and republicans could not agree on a supplemental budget so the Ds passed a majority budget, which did not require a 2/3 vote. To have it become effective before the state fiscal year closed on June 30, the legislature had to adjourn to beat the 90 day post adjournment clock before the budget could be effective. That means we are now in 132nd 1st special session-
All issues and bills not enacted or subject to final resolution have been carried over to a special session, which the governor will call immediately.
As a practical matter everything will continue on through June (as scheduled). At this point fewer than 1/2 of the bills have been printed, much less heard in committee, and I expect a very active special session.
All bills assigned to committee must be heard and voted on by May 9th- WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR MOA? We are still waiting for our bill to be released from the revisers office. They have waived the 2 weekend rule for scheduling public hearings- it's now 1 weekend between bill going to committee and announcing public hearing. This potentially will be a tight turn around, but we still need all of you! We need all Doctors and staff at the public hearing! The MOA office will send out CALL FOR ACTION just as soon as the NEXT step has been taken!
