MDC Project Update on Farmington Avenue

The Metropolitan District Commission (MDC)’s contractor, Paramount Construction is continuing with repairs on the sanitary sewer system at multiple locations along Farmington Avenue from Walden Street to North/South Main Street. This work was expected to be complete this week, however, due to unexpected weather and field conditions has required this project timeline to be extended. A summary of the remaining work is outlined below:

Farmington Avenue (Walden Street to Dale Street) - during this work eastbound traffic will be detoured (Walden St >Brace Rd>North Main St), westbound traffic will be maintained. On street parking will be limited based on the active work area. The remaining repair work on this block is scheduled to be completed by end of day on 11/11/2025.

Farmington Avenue (North/South Main Street to LaSalle Road) - work will occur on the north side of the street, generally located within the on-street parking area. Traffic will be maintained in both directions. There are a total of seven repair locations and each is expected to take one day to complete. The one exception is a repair located in the center of Farmington Avenue near Chase Bank. In order to accommodate this work, eastbound traffic will be detoured on LaSalle Road and westbound traffic will be maintained. I would expect this work to be completed in one day. The mainline sewer repair work in this section is scheduled to be completed by 11/21/2025 (weather dependent).

The MDC's contractor will be working hard this week and next in an effort to complete the necessary sanitary sewer repairs before the busy holiday week and kick-off to the holiday season. They expect to be completed by Friday, November 21st, barring any unforeseen issues.

As construction progresses, we're working to maximize on-street parking for customers and visitors. To help, we encourage employees to use alternative parking options, including the Town Center Parking Garage, which offers reduced rates for retail and restaurant employees working in the Center.

The Town Center Garage rates are far lower than other options! The rates are $4.50 for up to an 8.5-hour shift and $7 for anything over 8.5 hours.
