Two-Week Construction Look-Ahead
As work continues in West Hartford Center, the following construction activities are anticipated along Farmington Avenue over the next two weeks.
September 8-11
Phase 6B
- Complete installation of soil cells.
- Perform surface demolition at the driveway island.
- Prepare for and install granite curb at the Westfield Bank driveway.
- This work will occur early in the week during early-morning hours; driveway access will be limited or restricted while work is underway.
- Set handholes, valves, and frames to final grade.
- Remove sidewalk pavers in front of businesses.
- Form and pour new sidewalks in front of businesses.
- Outreach staff will notify affected businesses of the confirmed concrete-pour schedule as soon as it is available.
Phase 7
- Install granite curb along the roadway and at driveways.
- Continue installing handholes, light bases, and drainage structures.
- Place processed base and prepare for granite installation.
- Sawcut concrete at the Eversource vault.
- Remove sidewalk pavers in front of businesses.
- Form and pour new sidewalks in front of businesses.
- Outreach staff will notify affected businesses of the confirmed concrete-pour schedule as soon as it is available.
LaSalle Road
- Complete bench installation.
- Begin pavement repair work from Farmington Avenue to Arapahoe Road. Travel will be maintained using alternating one-way traffic during this operation. Pavement repair work is anticipated to take place on Friday.
September 14-18
Phase 4B
- Complete surface demolition.
- Place processed base and prepare for granite installation.
- Excavate for and install catch basins and pipe.
- Prepare for granite curb installation.
- Install power bases.
Phase 6B
- Continue forming and pouring sidewalks.
- Pave the gutter line.
- Install weed barrier and topsoil, and protect tree pits.
Phase 7
- Complete surface demolition at the Bruegger’s Bagels corner.
- Excavate for and install light pole bases.
- Place and fine-grade processed base.
- Complete concrete placements.
Please note: In preparation for sidewalk pours in front of businesses, Gerber will remove pavers and install temporary processed aggregate/stone-dust walkways for pedestrians.
Every effort will be made to minimize disruption and maintain safe access to businesses throughout construction. All activities are weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.

The Retail Validation Program:
A Reduced Rate Employee Parking Option for Your Staff

As construction progresses, we're working to maximize on-street parking for customers and visitors. To help, we encourage employees to use alternative parking options, including the Town Center Parking Garage, which offers reduced rates for retail and restaurant employees working in the Center.
The Town Center Garage rates are far lower than other options! The rates are $4.50 for up to an 8.5-hour shift and $7 for anything over 8.5 hours.
