Sidewalk Improvement Update

As part of the ongoing West Hartford Center infrastructure improvements, the Town would like to share an update on upcoming sidewalk work in front of the 1000 Farmington Avenue storefronts.

The contractor is currently scheduled to remove the existing concrete sidewalk between April 9 and April 10, at which time a temporary gravel surface will be in place. Installation of the new concrete sidewalk is anticipated for April 13.

Throughout construction, access to businesses will be maintained. ADA-compliant accommodations will remain in place at all times, including during the concrete curing period, to help ensure safe and convenient entry for customers and visitors.

To help reduce disruption, the contractor plans to perform this work during the early morning hours, with the goal of completing daily activities before most businesses open.

The Town and project team appreciate the continued cooperation of West Hartford Center businesses during construction. Business owners are encouraged to share any information regarding operating hours, delivery schedules, peak activity times, or specific access needs so the team can coordinate the work as effectively as possible and minimize impacts wherever feasible. This can be done by emailing CenterConstruction@westhartfordct.gov.

Thank you for your patience and partnership as these improvements continue to take shape.

A Reduced Rate Employee Parking Option for Your Staff

As construction progresses, we're working to maximize on-street parking for customers and visitors. To help, we encourage employees to use alternative parking options, including the Town Center Parking Garage, which offers reduced rates for retail and restaurant employees working in the Center.

The Town Center Garage rates are far lower than other options! The rates are $4.50 for up to an 8.5-hour shift and $7 for anything over 8.5 hours.
