Live to Chase Initiative Information

By now, everyone surely has seen the various marketing campaigns advertising free tuition at SCC. What is being advertised is a concept and that concept is made reality through aid programs.

The first free tuition program launched in 2021 was called the Free Tuition Initiative (FTI), and the current program is the Live to Chase Initiative (LCI). Both these programs make free tuition possible, but they each have distinct rules.

Below is a chart that shows the differences between the two programs.

One crucial thing many students fail to understand is that ALL other aid must be applied towards charges before the LCI fund will be applied.

The LCI funds are NEVER applied first unless the student doesn’t have any other aid awards.

Students should be encouraged to review the LCI FAQ so they will understand the rules they must follow to be eligible or retain eligibility.

SCC First-Gen Week

Greetings Chasers! We are excited to announce the first-ever SCC First-Gen Week, brought to you by the SCC First-Gen Committee! The week will take place November 6th to November 9th. National First-Generation Day is November 8th.

A formal definition of a first-generation college student is a student whose parent(s) did not complete a four-year college or university degree. The purpose of this week is to create and help build a community and establish relationships for first-generation college students here at SCC.

First-generation faculty and staff members are encouraged to visit the TRIO office (P. Dan Hull Building, Room 44) for a first-generation Chaser pin that they can wear to increase awareness about the upcoming events.

See below for a flyer for the upcoming events, and a picture of the first-generation Chaser pin.

OneSCC Campaign Update

Thank you, OneSCC! You have OneSCC Jeans Day for the entirety of next year.

Thanks to every one of our donors AND you an extra special thank you to Brittney Sutton for the gift that put us over the top and secured 80% participation.

We not only met, but EXCEEDED our fundraising goal as early as Tuesday, October 3rd thanks to the many generous donors that made their pledge at the All-College Meeting and so early in the campaign.

The campaign is not the end but the beginning. In the coming year we’ll partner across the campus and community to strategically invest your gifts and make the greatest impact on student success, program enhancements, and employee recognition.

Please look forward to news from the Foundation on how YOU are providing us with the support necessary to make a Spartanburg Community College education a one-of-a-kind experience for students and our community.

We will announce our fundraising total at the Rick Teal Campus Walk on October 27th!

A Message from Research and Development Coordinator, Cassie Martin

Good Morning Everyone!

Thank you for all your participation in the All-College Satisfaction Survey! The summary report for the survey has been completed and sent to the meeting organizers.

Summary results were compiled by using a combination of rating scales and organizing open ended comments by topic. I carefully reviewed your answers, broke comments into main points and overarching subjects, and tagged them as topics. Individual tags were counted per question and divided by the total number of comments to create a topic response percentage.

These feedback results were summarized and shared with meeting organizers to help plan and develop future All-College Meetings.

Thank you again for your participation and please let me know if you have any questions!
