2016 Governor's Honors Program

Congratulations to Ali Austin and Jake Dallas who  are state semi-finalists of the prestigious Governor's Honors Program.  These students have gone through a rigorous application and interview process and we commend them for their hard work and diligence.  We wish them the best in the next and final round of the competition.

Congratulations  to senior, Chase Burdette, Henry County Football Player of the Year and Coach Gess, Henry County Coach of the Year!


Other players named to the All-Henry County Team were DJ Hammond, Trevor Gear, Chandler Reeves, Khaleb Hood, Alex Usry, and Dalton Hardeman. Second Team-Kyler Albrecht and Josh Mays.   Read the Henry Herald article.
ELEMENTARY MENTAL MATH CHALLENGE 
The fourth and final monthly challenge for first semester was held on Friday,
D ecember 4, 2015. It was an exciting, close challenge! Winners were  Elizabeth Lewis (3rd),  Kristen Capp (4th), and  Makenna Freeman (5th). 

Fine Arts Fanfare
The Fine Arts Dept. decked the halls of ELCA
with Christmas music to start our days in a merry way for an entire week! Thank you to the Young Charger Chorale, HS Intermediate Guitar Classes, HS Brass Sextet, MS and HS Choruses, and HS Praise Band for helping to make Christmas merry! 









Middle School Chorus Students Attend Honor Event 
Congratulations to these amazing vocalists who participated in the GMEA District VI Honor Choir held in Newnan. Students attended rehearsals with guest conductors and presented a concert featuring several advanced selections of music. Congratulations students!

WRESTING ACCOLADES
The ELCA varsity wrestling team won the Area 2 A Duals tournament on Saturday,
January 9 th in front of a home crowd by defeating Georgia Military College by the score of 54 to 24 and then in the finals defeated Mount de Sales 54 to 30. This
 qualifies the wrestling team for the state duals tournament held in Macon on Friday and Saturday, January 15 th & 16 th .
 
During the championship match, Trent Johnson earned his 100th career victory and 50th career pin over his Mount de Sales opponent.

K5 Capers
Mrs. Dorsey's Kindergarten Class celebrated the new 2016 winter season with "SNOW" many fun activities on Pajama Day. From having a Pajama
Fashion Show, pretending to eat sweet snow
with whipped topping, finger painting in "snow"  shaving cream, ice skating on wax paper ice, to ending the day with a good old fashioned snowball  fight with boys vs girls! Mrs. Dorsey even wore  her Olaf pjs and got in on the snowball fight with her students.

Every penny raised by this event goes directly into supporting ELCA teachers and programs.

January 21, 2016          ADVISEMENT DAY
(Students will circulate course recommendation sheets throughout the school day seeking TEACHER RECOMMENDATIONS for the 2016-17 school year.  Please ask your student to see a copy of the course recommendations.)

January 26, 2016          AP / Honors Night - 5:30 P.M. (Chapel and Café)
(Students, along with their parents, who wish to take AP and Honors courses for the 2016-17 school year are encouraged to attend.  The advantages of AP courses will be discussed and teachers of Honors and AP courses will be available to discuss course expectations and field individual questions.)

                                    Current 11th Grade Parent Night - 7:00 P.M. (Chapel)
(11 th grade students and their parents will be encouraged to attend as transcripts, graduation requirements, college admissions, and scholarship information is shared.  Parents will make appointments for small group advisement/registration appointments.  In addition, PSAT and Practice ACT results will be discussed.)

January 28, 2016          Current 11th Grade Registration - 5:00 / 6:00 P.M. by appointment (Café)
(Specifics for 12 th grade registration will be discussed.  Advisors will assist 11 th grade students and their parents in selecting courses for the 2016-17 school year.)

Middle School Track Sign Ups
 
If you are interested in ELCA Middle School Track and Field,  try outs will be held Monday, February 1st, Tuesday, February 2nd and Thursday, February 4th.   Mrs. Buckley will have a sign-up sheet at her desk in the middle school office beginning Monday, January 25th.  If you have any questions regarding middle school track, please contact Coach Fields at valerie.fields@eagleslanding.org or stop by her office in the gym.
 
*During the season we will practice on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from  3:15 - 4:45 PM.     


High School Golf
Any high school student interested in playing on the golf team should sign up at the high school office or see Coach Batchelor in the gym.
