Higher Goals
ELCA Fund Campaign 2014-15

All ELCA families should have received their ELCA Fund information packet mailed to their home address during the 1st week of school.  In it is information related to this year's Campaign, along with specifics regarding the recognition items students will receive once their families support this year's ELCA Fund.  To summarize, once a family makes a donation of any amount each student within their family will receive either an ELCA zip tag for their backpack (grades Pre-K3 through 3rd) or a homework pass (grades 4th through 12th).  For a donation of a minimum $100 to the Campaign, each ELCA student within the family will receive the above along with a specially designed Higher Goals ELCA Fund t-shirt that is approved for Friday wear.  One of our primary goals for this year's ELCA Fund is that each family make a donation of some amount to the Campaign, as this allows us to potentially leverage these funds with grants from outside charitable foundations that have Christian Education as one of their missions.

The official campaign will be kicked off on Monday, September 8 and will continue through Friday, September 26. If you haven't yet made the decision to contribute to the ELCA Fund, you may expect a phone call from a member of the Development Committee. We ask that you prayerfully consider a contribution in support of our school this year, because every gift truly does count.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact either Vickie Floyd at (678) 818-1078 or Al Hosford at (678) 818-1031.

Music to our Ears!
ELCA Drum Major and senior, Brian Tirado was among 400 musicians who auditioned for one of 85 spots in the Atlanta Youth Wind Symphony this summer. Of the 85 selected, Brian is the only person from Henry County. The ensemble is comprised of students in grades 9-12 who share a commitment to excellence in musical performance. The Atlanta Youth Wind Symphony is based in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia and rehearses Monday evenings during the school year from 7:30-9:30 P.M. This is in preparation for each of the four concerts that are to be held throughout the Metro area, the first being Monday, October 13 with the Georgia State University Wind Ensemble.

Sixth Grade Art students recently created casts of their faces using plaster strips. They were lifted off, dried and painted to represent their personalities. The students all agree it was a blast! (Hannah Ekstedt pictured)

Drama News- MS and HS Drama students are very busy preparing for their Georgia Theater Conference performances in October. GTC is an educational conference for theater programs across the entire state. While there, ELCA will have three drama teams competing in three different divisions. Some HS students will compete in the Southeastern Theater Conference, and the remaining HS students will compete in GHSA One Act Festival Competition. MS Students will compete in the GTC Youth Theater Conference. We look forward to great things this year from our Drama teams!
