Stay Safe During Decreased Air Quality


Our area is experiencing decreased air quality levels due to wildfires in Canada. During this time, Albemarle County would like to remind our community of the importance of keeping safe during days with poor air quality.


What can you do?

Stay informed from trusted sources of information and follow guidance based on the Air Quality Index level of concern (see below). Make sure to check on your family, friends, and neighbors with heart or lung disease, and older adults. 

Open Air Burn Ban


The Albemarle County Fire Marshal has issued an open air burn ban. No open air burning is allowed at any time, effective immediately through 8 am Monday, June 12, 2023. 


Call 911 only if you see the source of smoke or black smoke.

Parks & Recreation Facilities


At this time, there are no facility closures. We encourage you to contact your league directly for any game or practice cancellations.
