Stay Safe During the Heat
Our area is experiencing a series of especially hot days. During this time, Albemarle County would like to remind our community the importance of keeping safe during hot weather. Stay in air-conditioned buildings as much as possible. If your home is not air-conditioned, keep cool by visiting public facilities that are air-conditioned, such as local libraries.
To provide additional options to those without access to air conditioning and those wanting to cool off in the water, we are waiving the fees for use of the Chris Greene and Walnut Creek swimming areas on Saturday, July 23 and Sunday, July 24.
Albemarle County Fire Rescue has included some safety reminders below as we prepare for these hot days. There's lots to keep in mind when the temperatures rise, so please take a few minutes to read through these tips and share with your friends and neighbors.
We are, of course, concerned for those most vulnerable to heat exposure and will be monitoring the weather and the situation around the county throughout the weekend.
Stay cool and be safe.
