Dear Madison Area YMCA members and families,

We deeply appreciate your understanding as our Y navigates challenging and unprecedented circumstances. We are all operating in unknown territory right now and are working as quickly as we can to support you and keep you updated.

As a member of Madison Area YMCA, you are not only a member of a health and wellness facility, you are a member of an anchor nonprofit institution that employs close to 400 people and serves more than 11,000 members. We are dedicated to strengthening our community; every day, people of all ages and all walks of life have entered our doors. Since our founding in 1873, our Y found ways to support people in difficult times. If there is one thing that we have seen over these many years, we are better when we work together. Now, more than ever we need YOUR help.

Stay With Us Your YMCA Membership Choices:

As we work to continue to serve you, first and foremost, we ask that you to keep your membership active so that we can remain fully focused on our efforts to help our community stay strong in spirit, mind and body .

Option 1:   KEEP YOUR MEMBERSHIP ACTIVE
If you choose this option, you do not have to do anything but accept our deep gratitude . Your membership will continue and your membership funds will help our organization remain viable now and in the future.

If you wish, we can provide you with a Donation Acknowledgement Letter for tax purposes for your gift of membership fees during the time when our facilities are not open to the public.  Click here to submit a request for this form.

If you continue your membership now but wish to place it on hold at a later date, you can do so.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Option 2 : Place your membership on temporary “HOLD”
We hope you will stay with us, but we also know that you are dealing with all of the same uncertainties as we are.  You can place your membership on hold for two months beginning with the date of your April monthly charge. In order to request a membership hold, please send an email here . Should you request, or circumstances dictate, we will extend the membership hold. We are thankful to have you with us even if just in spirit.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Option 3: Cancel your membership
We understand that there may be circumstances that require membership cancellation. We anticipate a potentially serious impact that extensive cancellations may have on our Y. Just like other businesses and nonprofits that have been impacted by the Pandemic, cancellations will have an impact on our viability, future resilience and our capacity to support our employees and the community.

Please email by clicking here to request membership cancellation.

Whatever your choice is about your membership, we do hope you will consider a gift of financial support.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Option 4 : Be a YMCA Champion
Please consider making a gift to the Madison Area YMCA’s Stay with the Y – Operations Support Fund here . This Fund has been established to help ensure we can continue to operate and continue to support our staff and the community.

SOPA and Gymnastics Programming Update
We are committed to offering programs for youth and children as soon as we are able to do so safely. For our Gymnastics and School of Performing Arts participants, when we have a firm reopening date, we will work with you to offer credits for missed classes, make-up sessions or a combination of the two.

Spring Session Update: All Other Programs
For our spring session, our hope is to be able to run an abbreviated session which will begin in May, if we are permitted to open our doors. More information will follow as the situation evolves and we assess our plans.

We are doing everything within our power to eventually restore every full and part-time position across our Association. As good stewards of the resources entrusted to us, the leadership team is also actively pursuing opportunities available through the CARES Act enacted by the US government. We will continue to roll out resources to keep our members and participants safely connected, active and healthy. A selection of virtual resources on our Virtual YMCA page is available here . You can also find us on our Facebook page and YouTube channel.

Visit our website here for our latest updates. On this page you will find a link to our Community Connections page which has information about our Y will be supporting community efforts as well and ways you can help, as well as other community organizations that you can connect with and support.

We invite you to support each other and help our community in the ways that we can. We offer our deepest thanks for your support today, and in the days and weeks ahead. Together we will weather this pandemic and be stronger than ever when our doors reopen.

Thank you for being a part of our Y.
