Charting Tomorrow's Course: How the Mid-Atlantic Security Traders Association helps Stocks in the Future

We would like to thank the Mid-Atlantic Security Traders Association (MASTA) for their most generous gift of $10,000. They are one of our top funders and our relationship with them spans many years.

MASTA is a membership organization dedicated to supporting securities traders in the Mid-Atlantic region through networking, professional development, and a commitment to integrity.

Guided by its founding principle of "Dictum Meum Pactum — My word is my bond," MASTA promotes goodwill and integrity through scholarships and strategic partnerships with organizations sharing its mission. MASTA is a generous and longstanding supporter of SIF. As Stan Craig, one of MASTA's officers, stated, "Partnering with SIF is the perfect fit so we can help the youth of today learn to be fiscally responsible, invest in their future and encourage them to explore a career in the finance."

MASTA's generous contribution serves as crucial support for our general funding needs, including essential expenses such as payroll, taxes, and insurance. The majority of this funding directly impacts our capacity, especially in areas vital for our mission such as field support, curriculum development, communications, and grant writing. Their investment plays a pivotal role in advancing our initiatives and empowering us to make a lasting impact in our community

Into the Heart of Learning: SIF Winter

Classroom Visits

This winter has been especially busy for SIF as we engage in classroom observations and facilitate opportunities for new board members to witness SIF in action while providing support to SIF teachers.

By inviting board members into the classroom, SIF hopes to give them the opportunity to witness our work firsthand rather than solely hearing about it in board meetings. While visiting the SIF classes, board members observe classroom lessons and engage with students and teachers to learn about their experiences. This direct engagement excites them about our mission and identity, empowering them to articulate SIF's values in their own words.

During the observations, we utilize a checklist to assess various aspects of the classroom environment, including engagement levels, teacher preparation, lesson coverage, and areas for improvement. This provides an opportunity to express gratitude to teachers, address any concerns they may have, and update school administration on program progress while also inviting any questions they may have.

These classroom visits are enriching not only for the students and teachers, but also for our staff and new board members. We are grateful to each of our partner schools, especially their hospitality during these visits.

SIF Superheroes in Action

The SIF Superheroes program is a newer initiative designed for young professionals who contribute $250 per year to support SIF's mission. By joining, members gain access to social activities, providing a fun avenue to connect with like minded individuals, develop leadership skills, and expand their network within the finance industry. It's a great opportunity to make a meaningful impact while enjoying social experiences and professional growth.

This month, SIF Superheroes went above and beyond by hosting two events. First was a trivia night at a local bar, where members showcased their knowledge and competitive spirit while bonding over a fun challenge. SIF Superheroes also dedicated a day to volunteering with Volunteering Untapped at Second Chance. Together, they rolled up their sleeves and lent a helping hand by tackling whatever tasks needed attention. After a morning of hard work, the volunteers came together to enjoy food, drinks, and networking opportunities at a local bar/ restaurant. It was a day of camaraderie, community impact, and great memories—proof that superheroes truly do walk among us!

If you are interested in becoming a SIF Superhero, we will be hosting a virtual event in late spring giving anyone who wants to join the opportunity to learn more about the group.
