News for all of Messiah's youth - from birth to young adulthood.
Sunday School Summary, October 18th:
Today the little kids started their Fruits of the Spirit lessons. The first fruit they learned is "love." They talked about different situations and how they either showed love to God, others, or no one. They received a small Jesus figure that they can use to spread the love of Jesus by giving it to someone who needs love or placing it strategically for someone to find. Since we ran short on time, they took home an "eternal Valentine" to color, which is Jesus's cross.
The big kid (just Logan today) chose a lesson on "Why God lets people do bad things." We looked at Scripture from both Old and New Testaments to understand that God loves us so much that he wants our love for Him to be genuine. He doesn't want people to do bad things, but sometimes bad choices are made because of our free will. God is a loving father who is upset with our bad choices but rejoices when we freely choose to love Him and those He has placed in our lives.
This seems far away, but we only have 7 Sundays until the Children's Christmas Program. Melinda and the big kids will start preparing the script next Sunday, and practice will start during the Sunday school hour on November 1. Mark your calendars for the Children's Christmas Program on Saturday, December 12.
6 youth present today.
