Submit your OSBA Legislative Platform resolutions

The OSBA Legislative Platform guides the association's advocacy efforts at the Statehouse and beyond. Every year, member boards have the opportunity to submit suggested changes to the platform for review. If you and your fellow board members would like to see an issue considered for this year's platform, create a resolution and send it to OSBA Director of Legislative Services Jennifer Hogue by May 31.

Lima astronomy students teach middle-schoolers on upcoming eclipse

Lima City’s Lima Senior High School astronomy students are preparing middle school students for the April 8 total solar eclipse. Partnering with Lima North Middle School, the high school students have crafted presentations, including PowerPoint slides and physical props, to educate fifth- through seventh-graders about safely observing this celestial event.

OSBA's annual Board Leadership Institute is an essential professional development opportunity for new and veteran board members alike. Registration for this event is $350.

• March 31: Deadline for Ohio Teacher of the Year nominations.
• April 1: Deadline to indicate interest in participating as sponsor or site host for the 2024 Summer Food Service Program.
• April 7: Deadline for applications for the Leo Lucas Scholarship, which provides graduating ethnically diverse high school seniors funds for college. Please share the application with your students.
• April 8: Ohio is the site of a total solar. Access educator resources, tips on safely viewing the eclipse and more.
• April 11: Deadline to make hotel reservations at a reduced rate for OSBA’s 2024 Board Leadership Institute.
• April 19: Deadline for students in grades nine-12 to enter School Bus Safety Video PSA contest.
• April 29: Deadline to register for the 2024 Board Leadership Institute.
• April 30: Application deadline for the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency’s Encouraging Environmental Excellence in Education (E4) program, which recognizes K-12 schools for achievements in environmental stewardship and efforts to educate students on environmental topics.
• May 15: Deadline to apply for the Grow Ohio Grant program. The grants increase the capacity of participating child nutrition providers to procure and use locally sourced foods in program meals and provide agricultural education opportunities for participating students.
