Dog Days 8K Cross-Country Run

Sunday, August 2nd, 2026

Thank you to Karsten Brown for the report!!

194 runners took part in the 43rd annual Dog Days 8K at Anne Arundel Community College a few weeks ago on a steamy Sunday morning. While early cloud cover helped a bit, that darned sun peeked out late in the race to add an extra touch of misery to the already challenging multi-surface route around campus. Still, many smiles were seen along the rolling 4.97-mile course, a route which had been thoroughly marked by race directors Dan Symancyk and Matt Mace.

26-year-old Jason D’Addario, representing the Westminster Road Runners Club, worked his way past former Strider Sam Phipps and current Strider Orion Boylston and cruised to an overall win in 30:52. Phipps stayed strong for second in 31:23, while Boylston (32:25) finished ahead of Michael Johnson (32:34) and Masters winner Maksym Petrenko (32:41).

A 26-year-old also came out on top in the women’s competition, as Ella Collings (35:51) finished a comfortable 1 minute 18 seconds ahead of runner-up Siena Pegues, 17. Paige Hirsch was our top Annapolis Striders finisher in 37:37, while Harper Wallace, 17, edged out Masters champ Samantha Cole at the line with a 39:00 performance.

Full results are up on RunSignup, and way too many free race photos are on Karsten Brown’s photo space. Big thanks to Dan and Matt for their efforts, and of course the race could not have taken place without all the awesome volunteers who pitched in on race morning!

Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium

A-10 weekend is about to begin, and we hope to see you at Navy–Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on Saturday and/or Sunday! Registration for the race is STILL open, so visit RunSignup.com/A10 now to register online, or sign up in person at the expo on Saturday.

Saturday’s expo is free & open to the public, running from 10 AM to 3 PM. If you’re registered for the race, we strongly recommend you visit the expo to pick up your bib number & packet pick-up goodie (a pair of A-10 socks!). Don’t forget that you’ll need to show photo ID in order to pick up your number! The expo also features a whole bunch of vendors & exhibitors, so bring some cash or a credit card, buy some running gear or merch, and chat with a variety of helpful physical therapists & spirited race organizers.

Sunday is RACE DAY! And with over 4,000 people registered, there’ll be a ton of vehicles descending on the stadium all at once. We will do our best to get everyone parked as quickly and as efficiently as possible, but please allow yourselves extra time, and try to arrive earlier than later. Packet pick-up will be open from 5:30 to 6:45 AM, and the race fires off at 7:00!

Lots more race info can be found at RunSignup.com/A10! Our race director and race committee will be extremely busy over the next few days, so if you have any questions, it’s best to ask in person at Saturday’s expo. Interested in volunteering at the last minute? Please e-mail our volunteer coordinator at a10volunteers@annapolisstriders.org!
