Annual Meeting & Awards Banquet recap

A large crowd of Striders and their guests gathered at Libations Tavern in Millersville last Sunday afternoon for our Annual Meeting & Awards Banquet! President Darrell Mak led the meeting portion of the shindig, where we reviewed the past year of club activities and welcomed our unanimously elected board of directors for the coming club year. Most of the board remains unchanged, but Elizabeth Nabors has stepped up to replace Bob Moseley as Vice President for Training & Education, and Justin Peake and Peter Cooper have joined as Directors to replace Eva Coale and Mark Hamilton. The club is grateful to our departing board members for all their contributions to the club!

Following a scrumptious buffet meal, an abundant number of awards were handed out, with Championship Series head Dan Mandeville doling out trophies for last year’s series and Will Myers introducing recipients of the series’ IronMan perfect attendance awards. Delia Edelmann then revealed the winners of our annual club awards:

Ben Moore Lifetime Achievement Award - Will Myers

Female Strider of the Year - Rose Dziedzic

Male Strider of the Year - Karsten Brown

Volunteer of the Year - Delia Edelmann

Phoenix Award - Angela Reel

Female Runner of the Year - Corrie Shade

Male Runner of the Year - Scott Koehler

Female Ultrarunner of the Year - Lauren Colvin

Male Ultrarunner of the Year - Vincent Glorioso

Junior Strider of the Year - Kai Scheele

Most Improved Runner of the Year - Jeanne Larrison

Congratulations to all our award recipients! For any Striders award winners who were unable to attend the banquet, our Champ Series awards will be available for pick-up at both the B&A Trail Marathon & Half-Marathon on Sunday, March 29th and the Cherry Pit 10 Miler on Sunday, April 12th.

Training Groups:

We are very excited to be wrapping up our Half Marathon Training this weekend at the B&A Trail Half Marathon! The half training group had 116 registered Striders who put in the work during some tough conditions this winter. With the start of spring we hope to see folks join us for 10k training. Whether your goal is to complete your first 10k, maintain your base, or shoot for a PR we can help you achieve your goals. Signing up gets you both the base and intermediate training plans, weekly training emails, access to the group facebook page, and the option to come out to the twice weekly group runs on Wednesday nights and Saturday mornings. Training starts April 6th. All training programs are a free benefit with your membership.

Coaching Call:

Are you interested in becoming a running coach and helping out with our training programs? The club is always looking for more coaches! We pay for your RRCA coaching certification and first aid/cpr training. Every year we put on two 5k training groups, one 10k training group, one 10 mile training group, one marathon training group, AND our junior striders program for kids. It takes a village of coaches. If you're interested in helping with any of our programs, reach out to elizabethn@annapolisstriders.org.

JUNE

The Crofton Kiwanis Club and Foundation annual community 10K and 5K races Saturday, June 13th, 2026

The races start at 8 AM at the Crofton Country Club. The certified 10K course includes a great tour around our tree-lined community with some challenging hills and is a good tune-up for fall marathon training or even first time 10K participants. The 5K course goes completely around Crofton Parkway and is about 3.4 miles. All profits from these races are put towards the many community charities that the Crofton Kiwanis Foundation supports.
