Join us for an impactful Advocacy Day!

June 7, 2023 | 8:30 am to 1:30 pm

State Capitol Building in Lansing

What is FPA of Michigan ADVOCACY DAY in Lansing and why is it important for YOU to attend?

  • The day will begin at 8:30 am at the offices of the Small Business Association of Michigan in Lansing where we will join together for a brief meeting and then proceed to the Capitol.
  • At the Capitol, we will meet in small groups with Senators and Representatives where we will discuss four important topics: Title Protection; Financial Literacy; How financial planners charge fees; and Taxing of financial planner fees and related services.
  • After meeting with Senators and Representatives, the FPA of Michigan will be hosting a short lunch at a local restaurant for all participants.

Still not sure if you should attend, watch the compelling video below from our Advocacy Committee and discover why you shouldn't miss this event!

What are the new IAR CE Requirements, and do they apply to you?

On November 24, 2020, North American Securities Administration Association (NASAA) members elected to adopt an investment adviser representative (IAR) continuing education requirement (CE) with the goal of ensuring that advisers receive proper and updated training on the securities business relevant to their duties and obligations.

Check out this blog on what to know about IAR CE requirements and whether or not you’ll be required to complete the 12-credit hours this year.

If you are unsure whether or not you are registered as an Investment Advisor Representative (IAR), go to IAPD - Investment Adviser Public Disclosure - Homepage (, search your name, find your record and select “more details”. If under License(s), Michigan is listed for Investment Advisor, the IRA CE requirement applies to you.

If you find that you need to fulfill your IAR requirements, we have partnered with COMPLY to deliver an IAR Continuing Education Workshop. Attend this virtual two-day workshop, hosted by COMPLY’s regulatory experts, on Jun. 27 - 28, 2023 to achieve your 2023 IAR CE requirements. For more information or to register, click here.

Can’t attend the entire two days? No problem because when you register, you gain unlimited access to COMPLY’s comprehensive IAR CE content library until Dec. 31, 2023, to fulfill your requirements on your time!

Please note that this workshop is for IAR CE's only and does not qualify for CFP CE's or Michigan Insurance CE's.

You will have an opportunity to share your thoughts on the case study as well as hear perspectives and professional opinions from other advisors on how to tackle complex (and not so complex) financial issues.

You will learn from other caring professional planners on how they frame and deliver advice to clients in such a way that will prompt action.

Join us on June 15th! Learn how insurance supports the financial planning process, address the risks your clients are facing, and provide immediate solutions you can implement to solve the insurance dilemma.
