Exemplary Recognition:

We are very proud of the Catholic culture and community we have established and that we nurture daily at St. Gabriel Parish School. Consequently, earlier this school year the teachers and I decided to apply for exemplary recognition in the area of Catholic Identity with the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.

We are pleased to announce that the committee was impressed with our application and has decided that we are finalists for the award. They will be visiting our school on Thursday, April 3rd. Their final decision on the schools that will be awarded Exemplary Recognition in the area of Catholic Identity will be announced in June. Stay tuned for the final results!!

2025-2026 Staff Update:

Planning has begun for the 2025-2026 school year. Part of this process includes determining staffing needs. It has been brought to our attention that the following teachers/staff will not be returning. Consequently, we will begin a search to fill these positions. We wish all of these staff members the best and thank them for their hard work and dedication to our school/parish.

Here is an update on the progress that we have made in filling these positions.

  • K4 Teacher - Mrs. Skowbo: Retiring after 15 years at St. Gabriel.
  • Interviews are underway.
  • K5 Teacher - Mrs. Piotrowski: Retiring after 17 years at St. Gabriel.
  • Interviews are underway.
  • Spanish/ Middle School Math Teacher - Sr. Therese Marie Yank: Has been assigned, by her community, to a position in Germany
  • Middle School Math Teacher: Mr. DeMers has accepted this position. He will be teaching Music and middle school Math beginning next year.
  • Applications are still being accepted for Spanish.
  • K4 Aide (Thurs/Fri) - Mrs. Collins: Stepping aside from this position but will continue to be a substitute teacher for us.
  • Mrs. Patty Berg has accepted this position beginning next year.
  • RtI Aide - Since Mr. DeMers will be teaching middle school math, we are searching for a part-time aide to help in our RtI program. This person will be working with students individually or in small groups to help support their learning.
  • Applications are still being accepted for this position.
  • ASLP Director - Deb Erdmann: Will continue to teach middle school but will not be leading the after-school program next year
  • Mrs. Beth McAleer has accepted this position beginning next year.
  • A long-term substitute teacher is needed to begin the school year in 2nd grade for Mrs. Schmidt, who will be on maternity leave.
  • Applications are still being accepted for this position.

Business Office: Tuition and ASLP Statements for 2024 Tax Reporting purposes were emailed on January 15 & 16, 2025. Please review your email history for your statements as you prepare your 2024 Taxes for the IRS and Wisconsin Department of Revenue.

Safe Environment Awareness Week:

The Archdiocese of Milwaukee recognizes March 30th–April 6th as Safe Environment Awareness Week. Each year in the month of April, which is recognized around the country as child abuse prevention month, we dedicate a week to elevating the general awareness of the Church’s efforts to keep our children safe. We want people to know that we are committed to maintaining safe environments in our parishes and schools through adult child abuse prevention training; criminal background checks for all clergy, volunteers working with minors, and employees; safety training for children in each grade level; and adhering to all mandatory reporting requirement laws.

2025-2026 Registration:

Please make sure you register your child/ren for the 2025-2026 school year. There has been much interest in our school from new families. We already have 73 students registered. Classes may fill up quickly. Take advantage of the $250 per student (max $1,000) early registration discount by registering now. The early registration discount ends Monday, March 31.

The form has links to the tuition information and a link to pay the $200 registration fee. Your registration is not complete until the fee is paid. The $200 fee will be deducted from your tuition bill. Please use the link below to register your children.

Also, review the other tuition-reducing programs listed on the form and consider getting involved by volunteering, becoming a member of one of our amazing committees, and/or joining us for one of our energetic school or athletic events. Check out all the opportunities on iVolunteer, and/or visit our school website. We are excited that our St. Gabriel family is growing and hope that your family continues to be a part of all we have to offer.

2025-2026 School Calendar:

Please see the link below for the 2025-2026 school year calendar.

2025-2026 School Calendar

Drop-Off/Pick-up Line Reminders:

Supervision begins outside at 7:40 a.m. each morning. The doors open for students to go down to their classrooms at 7:50 a.m. All students are expected to be in their classrooms ready for the day by 8 a.m. If they are not, they are considered tardy. Any students entering the building after 8 a.m. need to stop in the office to order their lunch.

Here are just a few reminders to keep everyone safe and the lines moving efficiently.

  • Pull all the way up to the end of the sidewalk, or to the car in front of you, before your students exit the car.
  • The first 2 spots in the carline, beyond the sidewalk, are for our “skip the line” auction winners. Please do not stop in these spots. Only stop at the orange cones.
  • Please do not exit your vehicles. If you arrive between 7:40 - 7:50 in the morning, there will be a staff member present to help students exit cars on the passenger side. In the afternoon, there will be a staff member at each cone to help students enter vehicles. We do not want anyone walking between cars at any time.
  • Please pull around to the church parking lot to buckle your children in their car seats. Do not do this while still in the car line.
  • If your child will not be going home their usual way (e.g., either going to a friend's house, someone else picking them up, not taking a bus that they normally take home), a note or phone call from a parent is required with these special instructions. If it is a last-minute change, please make sure you call and speak to someone since an email may not be seen in time if sent at the end of the day. We must have parent confirmation of any change in student pick-up at the end of the school day, either via email or phone conversation with the school office staff.

Teachers will not keep a student after school without making arrangements with parents first. Students are to leave school grounds promptly after dismissal. The school assumes no responsibility for children who do not go directly home or who stay on the school grounds without proper supervision after school.

After School Care:

After-school care for April is now available. Please remember to sign up as we need time to plan accordingly to have adequate staffing.

Fundraising & Development by Connie Helm

We are deeply honored to share the news of a memorial donation recently made to St. Gabriel Catholic Parish School. Our community mourned the loss of Ken Delleman last December, but his spirit and dedication to Catholic education continue to live on through a generous gift from his family. On March 19th, we had the privilege of welcoming Ken’s family — his wife, Kathy; daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Bill Neureuther  — to our school for the dedication of these new additions, a beautiful tribute to his lifelong commitment to faith and learning.

Ken Delleman was a devoted and active member of the St. Hubert’s Parish and School communities. As both a parish council member and athletics director, he gave selflessly, ensuring that Catholic education remained strong for generations to come. His love for faith and service now carries on through his great-grandchildren—Aaron, Sam, Lauren, Joey, and Dominic Neureuther—who continue to be part of the St. Gabriel Catholic Parish and School family.

We are profoundly grateful for Ken’s enduring legacy. His dedication, generosity, and love for Catholic education will continue to inspire and bless our school for years to come.

IN THE CLASSROOMS

Teamwork & Creativity in Action!

Last week during Destination Imagination, our students took on a fun and challenging task — building a tower that leans against the wall!

They had 2 minutes to plan their strategy and up to 5 minutes to bring their imaginative ideas to life. Watching them collaborate, problem-solve, and support one another was truly inspiring.

We’re so proud of all their hard work and creativity! Way to go,everyone!

Our first and second graders are making music!

Using an online program, they created rhythms with quarter, eighth, and sixteenth notes and will be ready to play them with drumsticks next week!

They also composed short songs, practiced pitch, and learned to read musical notes on the staff. After transposing their creations onto a written staff, they’re excited to share their songs in class next week. We can’t wait to hear their musical masterpieces!

Middle School Retreat!

Our middle school students (6th, 7th, and 8th grade) had a faith-filled Friday at Arise Milwaukee's Wisconsin Catholic Youth Rally! After a powerful morning of worship and inspiration, they continued their journey at the Schoenstatt Retreat Center, where they shared lunch, prayed the Stations of the Cross outdoors, and spent sacred time in the shrine with our very own Sister Therese Marie. It was a beautiful day of growing in faith together!

Forensics Club News:

The Forensics Team had 8 students compete at State on Saturday, March 15th in Brookfield and the results were outstanding!

🥇Elijah took home 1st place for Impromptu

🥈Grace took home 2nd place for Informative

Leighton, Kaylee, Everett, Hazel, Sam, and Kaiden all performed with solid scores. We could not be prouder of this outstanding team! Not only did they grow in their public speaking capabilities, they had tons of fun doing it!

As the season wraps up, we would like to celebrate their incredible success. Over 7 weeks of competition, these 9 students earned an incredible: 26 Medals, 2 Individual Trophies, and 1 Team Trophy.

Congratulations to each and every one of our amazing team on an outstanding year!
