e-Lation! November 12, 2020
Welcome Rev. Sean Dunker-Bendigo
The Interim Search Committee, with the blessing of the Church Council, is happy to announce that we have called the Rev. Sean Dunker-Bendigo as our Interim Associate Pastor, beginning in mid-January!

Sean is a graduate of the University of North Carolina/Greensboro and Andover-Newton Theological School. He has completed extensive continuing education and training in theology, interim ministry, coaching and leadership. He is trained as a Co-Active Coach and Organization Relationship Systems Coach. Sean was ordained after seminary into the American Baptist Church. However, he describes himself at heart an ecumenist and has recently been approved by the United Church of Christ and granted Privilege of Call in the UCC.

Sean has served as the pastor of the Madison Church (Madison, NH) since 1995. He’s taken that congregation through three different visioning processes during those years, through members were guided in discerning God's callingHe has served the community and wider church, founding a coaching group for clergy, co-leading Partners for Haiti and six work mission trips there, serving the Madison Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter and the fire chief. Sean is an excellent photographer and skilled in the use of digital communications and social media. Visit his website: (password loon).

During his time with us, which will last approximately 18 months, Sean will help guide us through a season of transitional discernment, helping us re-familiarize ourselves with our congregational story, listen for God’s leading as we look toward the future, and guide our conversations around how to shape and sustain that vision. He will work closely with Jed and a small team of church members, and will share pastoral, preaching, visitation, youth ministry and other pastoral duties with Jed. We look forward to his assistance in bringing us up-to-date in terms of our online social media presence.
Sean has a gracious and creative spirit, enjoys working in a team setting, and is very excited about our short but vital time together. He has a son and a daughter, and his partner Helen has two daughters. Sean’s family is in Arlington, Boston, MA, and Dover, NH, and he will be living with family in Arlington. We will work with him to shape a schedule such that part of his work can be done online from home and part of his work will be here in person. Sean has already met our staff and has been given a tour and is very excited to begin this new partnership in ministry. Please join us in welcoming him when he joins us in mid-January! Stay tuned for further updates.

Yours in faith,
Will Delker, Jay Haines, Jed Rardin and Janet Zeller

Moment of Mission
Whether you've been a member of South Congregational for 50 years or just started zooming in this spring, it's gratifying to know that our local church is part of the larger United Church of Christ, making a difference in our state and nationwide.

Throughout November, South Church's Faith in Action Committee is collecting offerings for the UCC Christmas Fund, which supports needy retired clergy and UCC lay employees. Formerly called the Veterans of the Cross, the fund helps provide pensions, health care coverage, and emergency grants to lower-income retirees who have given so much to the church over many decades. As the number of retirees rises, your gifts of compassion and care are needed more than ever. Join us in making a tangible gift that says, "Well done, good and faithful servant." If you would like to help please use the Donation Link.
Budget Update
A big thanks to all who have given this year in both pledging and loose offerings. As of the end of October, we have received $89,792.56 in pledges. That is 93% percent of where we should be. Currently we have received $12,521.00 in loose offerings. Based on the budget, we had anticipated to have received $20,000. by this date. If you would like to donate, please click here.
