Staycation Petawawa Promotion
Win a Weekend Staycation
Program Highlights
With COVID-19 still affecting our leisure and travel opportunities the trend this summer, in many communities, is to encourage residents to re-experience their community as a tourist. This includes a hotel stay, guided excursions' and discovering all the wonder and beauty that our dynamic area has to offer.

A tourist is considered someone who has travelled over 40 km to reach a particular destination. This Staycation is for those within that 40 km bubble. This program rewards hyper-local residents for supporting and shopping local businesses and offers them a tourist experience to re-discover their backyard.

The program serves as a give-back to our local, loyal shoppers.

If your business wishes to be part of the Staycation Petawawa Contest there are three ways to do so:

  • Direct Sponsor - offer a service or opportunity for the Staycation winners.
  • Welcome Sponsor - offer an item that would be packaged in a gift basket for the Staycation winners.
  • Location Sponsor - your business agrees to have a ballot box at your site and collect ballot entries from local residents.

Each of these sponsor opportunities come with advertising and promotion exposure to showcase your business. You can find more details about this opportunity on our municipal website.
The Staycation Petawawa Contest will run from April 12 to May 14. During this period we will advertise and promote the Staycation contest and encourage residents to Shop Petawawa and enter the draw. The winners of the Staycation contest will be selected on May 20th and will redeem their Staycation packages in July and August 2021.

If your business wants to participate in this contest, in one or all of the options presented, then please complete the business participation form so we can include your business, as appropriate in the upcoming media campaign.

Advertising will be through local radio ads, social media and at participating businesses through posters and ballot boxes. The reach and the exposure of this contest is to the hyper-local residents in our 40km bubble.

The participation is done specifically by physical ballot to encourage people to get around again to local businesses while still exercising appropriate health and safety protocols.
Support local tourism businesses and nominate them in the 2021 Ottawa Valley Tourism Awards.
