Shining a light on the people and places that make Archway so special.
A Message from our Chief Executive Officer
Welcome to Archway's October Newsletter! This month our focus is on the work we do to promote our residents' health and wellness. This work is primarily led by our Services Team, which is overseen by Sandy Nagler.
A few examples of the services we provide are:
- Providing residents with gym passes, which we do at Fountain Ridge, this month's featured property.
- Offer incentives and opportunities for our residents to be active, such as fitness centers at our properties, as well as basketball courts and other play areas.
- We provide Food Bank services to all of our communities to ensure that all of our residents have access to adequate and healthy food.
- Our Property Management and Supportive Services teams began the process of moving Archway to become Smoke-Free properties. Through a grant from the State Tobacco Education Prevention Partnership and the Colorado Department of Public Health, Archway and other housing providers are receiving technical assistance to provide support and education to address smoke-free policies, implementation, and sustainability.
This summer we conducted community needs assessments at each of our properties to help us better understand our residents' needs. These assessments included inquiries related to our residents' mental and physical health.
Later in October, you'll hear from Sandy Nagler, our Director of Programs, about her team's ongoing efforts to support our residents and the impact our services have on our residents' lives. Below, you can read about Kendall Curtis, Marketing Associate, about her involvement in high-level sports and how that has helped her stay active and healthy. Enjoy and my best wishes to you all as we head deeper into fall.

We want to welcome our new staff! Over the last few months, we have seen lots of growth in our team. We are pleased to add Annie Bresnahan, Ashton Gordon, Eric Davis, Erik Jorgenson, Marie Sanchez, Mary Beth Cavanagh, Sandy Navarro, Lesa Cerrone, Miya Vaughn, Amanda Collins, and Anthony Viola. Our property staff took part in a Smoking Cessation training class this past month! The funding for the training is from the State Tobacco Education Prevention Partnership (STEPP), part of the CO Dept of Public Health. These funds provide technical assistance to housing providers across the state to provide support, education and funding opportunities to address smoke-free policy implementation and sustainability.

Up to now, I’ve been the one behind the cursor of our staff and resident spotlights, interviewing each person and trying to find a way to form words to their awesome stories. But this month it looks like I’ll be the subject of our staff spotlight!
When it comes to health and wellness, I’ve always been the type to just prioritize finding something I love to do because that makes it easier to get out and get active; to commit; and to grow long term.
Ever since I was five years old that love for me, amongst other things, was hockey. I, like most female hockey players, had an older brother in the sport that just had to find a goalie to shoot at. The easiest pick is to make your little sister wear pads way too big, throw on a helmet and baseball mitt, and ask her to stand in the net.

Celebrating Community at Fountain Ridge
There are many goals that we have when it comes to the health and wellness services we offer. First and foremost, we want to increase engagement, which simply means we want to see our residents engage with our staff, their neighbors, and larger community, so that it might build relationships and trust with others.
Secondly, we want to see our residents build life skills that will help them in their own lives. This can be hard skills, like learning a new sport or applying for health benefits, or soft skills like building the self confidence to try new things. These are skills that any person would want opportunities to build on, and the great thing about Archway is that we strive to provide access to these opportunities on each of our properties every week.

Archway Gives Day was a Success!
We completed our first annual Archway Gives Day - an opportunity for our entire team to come together to build up our communities. This year we built and painted little libraries for each of our properties, as well as completed the first "Archie Awards," which honors team members who exemplify our cultural pillars with exception.

Chaffee County House Party
Members of our Real Estate and Marketing team attended the first annual House Party hosted by the Chaffee Housing Authority, who recently got their start in 2020. We love to show support for not only housing authorities, who do a great job advocating for affordable housing, but for our western slope counties as well!
