August 6, 2021
Dear Family in Christ,
After prayerful discernment and watching as the COVID-19 cases rise dramatically in our county, I believe it is best that we return to wearing our masks while in the church for service as recommended by the Diocese.
|
|
While I am aware that most, if not all of us are vaccinated the fact is that this virus is spreading rapidly in our community and affecting our children who cannot be vaccinated with wicked prevalence. Many of our members work with children in various capacities. I am mindful of their work and ministry out in the world. The fact is Cape May Regional's ER is once again full, our doctors, nurses, and volunteers are exhausted. We must love one another and care for each other. As a living example of that love, we will make a small sacrifice, we will return to wearing our masks as we gather for worship.
If you are like me, you may have grown so comfortable that your mask is no longer the first thing you grab. No worries, we have masks available in both the old and new Narthex. Please take one as you enter.
Prayerfully we will not have to continue on this path for very long.
See you all Sunday!
Blessings,
Mo. Allison+

In Word and Deed
Proclaiming the Word is not enough. We substantiate what we proclaim in a most essential way by our lifestyles and with the people with whom we find ourselves living our everyday lives. Evangelization must be a reality integral to the action.
Jesus was a pilgrim. He moved confidently among the educated and the ignorant, among the saved, the desperate, and the castoffs. He was faithful to his message and proclaimed it only because he lived it.

Lectionary Text
for the Eleventh Sunday after Pentecost: Proper 14
|
|
Have you ever noticed the food left on a McDonald’s tray … Big Macs, french fries, half-eaten fish sandwiches... We Americans are obsessed with food. Put us at a buffet and they have to put up signs to make sure we don’t stock up for the week. Along with our obsession with food is our obsession with losing weight. We eat too much of the wrong thing, then have to spend thousands of dollars on special diets to take off the excess pounds.
Oh, that we were this obsessed with spiritual food! You’d think many of us are on a spiritual diet the way we seem to take in just enough nourishment to survive. But most of us would not say we are spiritually filled. Jesus Christ promises to give us bread and drink and ties it into our observances of the sacrament of holy communion … the most notable place in our corporate worship life where we focus on the power of Christ to satisfy our hungering and thirsting.
