"Stewardship and All the Saints"

God calls us all to be saints and gives us the grace to become holy. Of all the feasts of the Church calendar, Sunday is among the most joyful as we celebrate the saints, the holy ones who abide with God in the glory of heaven. The saints’ glory is God’s glory, for, in their unique ways, the saints radiate particular glimpses of God’s truth, beauty, and goodness.

According to the Center for Faith and Giving, the celebration of All the Saints, at its core, is about legacy and promise – what has been left behind by those who have gone ahead for us to build upon and the “blessed assurance” of what lies ahead for the faithful. That future includes a way of knowing and being known beyond this life, and how to live in faithfulness in the interim. Though we may feel far from it, each one of us is called to be a saint, and the saints we celebrate on Sunday are advocating for us on our paths to holiness.

In this season of stewardship, we look to our saints for the examples of their lives lived in faith, mission, and ministry. We look to their ways and examples of gracious use of their time, talent, and treasure. Think of all those who have come before us, who have given themselves to Christ without demand or expectation. How can we best honor them in our mission and ministry?

Each one of us has been called to Sainthood. Each one of us has been called to serve. Perhaps it's through a monetary donation or service beside a neighbor, or volunteering at the church or a local non-profit, or lifting another with kind words or works of art. There are many ways to serve and in serving others we honor those who have served before.

If you are discerning the best way for you to serve Christ in our community and/ or the broader world and would like to engage in spiritual direction, please feel free to reach out to me.

God Bless you on this All Saints Sunday+
