Congratulations St. Mary's and The Branches Community FoodBank!

Your passion for outreach, ministry, and living mission in the greater Cape May County region has been recognized by Episcopal Community Services by awarding us a grant of $10,000.00 to be used for the purpose of expanding the ministry and mission of the Branches in joining with the Foodbank of New Jersey to assist those who are food insecure.

The ECS grants are designed to expand existing compassion and justice ministries of congregations or make new ones possible. Projects address one or more of the following objectives:

  • To meet human needs in underserved and marginalized communities, especially communities of color
  • To engage, collaborate, and partner with other organizations, including faith-based, secular, community, government, etc.
  • To encourage advocacy for issues relating to social justice, including spearheading new advocacy efforts

St. Mary's and The Branches Community Foodbank were one of ten who received this grant in our Diocese of 144 churches. Thank you for all of your love, support, and outreach in Cape May County. A special thanks to Larry Schmidt for submitting our application, Sandra, and Terry for their work and dedication to the Branches and its mission, our President, Board, members, and vestry. Thank you to Debbie and her husband Steve who spent countless hours vacating the end bay of the Thrift Shop and reorganizing to make room for the Foodbank. And once again, thank you all for your continued donations of food, clothing, and other items for those in need. You are making a difference.

It was a joy to attend the ECS Summit this past weekend and to hear St. Mary's and the Branches being recognized, however, your work, church, is being heard, recognized, and known in the greater community outside of the Episcopal Church as well. Allow me to share with you that not only are we seeing new faces on Sundays but pastoral calls have increased significantly among non-members who have heard of our work, mission, and ministry. It is a privilege to walk alongside each and every one of you.

Keep up the good work!

Our 2022 Stewardship Campaign kicked off this past week. You should have received an introductory letter from Stewardship Chair Janet Proulx. Next week, a second letter and a pledge card will be sent, along with an informational sheet covering answers to questions you may have about pledging to St. Mary's. A copy of this week's letter is linked here.

Stewardship Sunday will be celebrated on Sunday, November 7th.

All pledge cards will be due back on November 21st.

Thank you for the joyful and prayerful consideration of your stewardship to St. Mary's Church.
