Rather than thinking of the Holy Spirit as descending on us try to see the Spirit as God dwelling within us and waiting to be released and spread throughout the world. With every kind act, word and thought, we awaken the Spirit in us, and then It spreads outward to others. We help keep the Spirit alive and active by consciously making daily efforts to serve and sanctify others.
This past weekend we celebrated Mother's Day with a very special Eucharist, I am pleased to say that the Spirit was alive and moving through our community, even if we were unaware at the time. Today I heard the story of a young Police Officer, 23 who stood watching and listening from a distance. He recently lost his mom. He shared how our service brought him peace, comfort and drew him close. It was just what he needed.
The Spirit of love and goodness will touch many, from a single smile to a simple act of kindness from each of us. Pray for one another, pray for our world and community.
May the Spirit that fills us with Love and Kindness flow freely through us.
See you Sunday!
Blessings,
