Toward the end of Jesus’ earthly ministry it became inevitable … Jesus would physically be taken from their midst. What would happen to the movement so recently begun? If it was to be carried on with power, the little band of disciples stood in special need of prayer. So Jesus offered the High Priestly Prayer, and asked God to grant them the same marks of the Spirit we need today.
