Dear Family in Christ,

Pentecost conjurs up so many memories of the various ways we have celebrated the joy of the Holy Spirit and the birth of our Church. This weekend, though we are not gathered together in the sanctuary, we still celebrate with the same exuberant joy. I invite you to ring a bell or wear red this Sunday to our Zoom Service. Our 10:00 am service will be extra special as David will join us via Zoom. I am so very much looking forward to worshipping with all of you.
Over the course of my short time here I often find myself gazing across the Mary Garden listening to the call of the Holy Spirit. Every now and then, she gives me a gentle nudge and sometimes a nagging which has led me to the following:

As we contemplate the working of the Holy Spirit here at St. Mary's, and what it means to be church, as we envision a process of reentry into our sanctury, I am seeking your input and vision. How is the working of the Holy Spirit moving you in this community? What would you like to see St. Mary's become and how would you like to see St. Mary's live out the mission of the Church in this community of Stone Harbor and further out in the world?

I welcome your responses, no matter how great or small. Every contribution helps to bring clarity and vision.

I know that so many of our joyous occasions over the last couple of months has been entangled with so much of the world's woes from Covid-19, Quarantine, Loss, Division and Racism. I know many if not all of us are hurting or at the very least burdened in some way. This is when the church's unity in our Baptismal Covenant is so very important. Ultimately we are one Body in Christ. Every little nerve ending affects a limb or another part of the body. Let us remain in prayer with compassion and understanding for one another in Peace with Love, and for Justice. If you are feeling anxious in these times, please feel free to call and talk, email, or we can pray by phone.

In Christ,

A Prayer for our Country
Almighty God, who hast given us this good land for our heritage: We humbly beseech thee that we may always prove ourselves a people mindful of thy favor and glad to do thy will. Bless our land with honorable industry, sound learning, and pure manners. Save us from violence, discord, and confusion; from pride and arrogance, and from every evil way. Defend our liberties, and fashion into one united people the multitudes brought hither out of many kindreds and tongues. Endue with the spirit of wisdom those to whom in thy Name we entrust the authority of government, that there may be justice and peace at home, and that, through obedience to thy law, we may show forth thy praise among the nations of the earth. In the time of prosperity, fill our hearts with thankfulness, and in the day of trouble, suffer not our trust in thee to fail; all which we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
