CONGREGATION TIFERETH ISRAEL
GOES DIGITAL
IN RESPONSE TO COVID-19
As we prepare for our first completely digital Shabbat, we want to thank you all for your patience, kindness, understanding and continued generosity of spirit as we have taken Tifereth Israel completely online in a very short period of time. Our ZOOM services (what Rabbi Hillel likes to call "ZOOMinyans"), classes, and gatherings have been spiritual, educational, and have given people a chance to connect face-to-face in this time of social distancing.

In an effort to maintain as much normalcy as possible, Shabbat services (conducted on Zoom) will include all the usual elements. We'll begin with Shabbat Warmup, continue with services, read from the Torah, and make kiddush and Motzi following Adol Olam. It will be new and it will be different, but we hope it will also feel like Shabbat.

We do not yet know when we will be able to again gather in person - estimates change each day and to hazard a guess would be irresponsible. But we present this version of our weekly Forum to you with the hope that we will see you at our digital programming and, hopefully, in person sometime soon.
THIS WEEK
All morning and evening minyanim and Shabbat services are being held via ZOOM and can be accessed through the links below or by calling 929-205-6099 or 312-626-6799 and entering the appropriate Meeting ID. If you need help learning how to join a Zoom meeting, please check out this how-to guide.

UPDATES
SPOTLIGHT 2020: CANTOR CHOMSKY'S OPUS
As a community, we are very excited and eager to honor Cantor Jack Chomsky as he prepares for retirement after 38 years of music, service, and leadership at Congregation Tifereth Israel. Unfortunately, due to the current health safety crisis, the beautiful Shabbat dinner and one-of-a-kind concert planned in celebration of our cantor must be postponed to an as of yet undetermined future date.

We are extremely grateful to the members of our community who have already committed to a sponsorship and/or made dinner/ticket purchases. While we await clarity on what the future holds, we encourage you, if you have not already done so, to continue to honor Cantor Chomsky in this way and click the link below to become a sponsor or purchase event tickets.

TIFERETH ISRAEL FAMILY PASSOVER SEDER
For many of us, Passover is a special time of year that is marked by the gathering of family and friends in celebration of freedom and the renewal of spring. This year, because of the easily spread COVID-19/Coronavirus, we find ourselves confined to our homes, many of us alone. This unfortunate situation demands that we cancel Tifereth Israel's annual family seder.

If you have already made a reservation, we hope you will consider redirecting your payment to the synagogue as a donation to help sustain us through this difficult time. If you would prefer a refund, please contact Virginia Terry at 614-928-3288.

Rabbi Skolnik is working on plans to lead an online, communal seder via ZOOM on Wednesday, April 8, giving our community an opportunity to connect in a new and exciting way and we hope you will join from your own seder table. We will share the details about being part of our virtual seder as they become available. In the meantime, please use the link below to let us know you plan to join us.

Finally, please keep an eye out for a special Passover communication that will include rabbis' thoughts and suggestions for preparing for Passover during this period of crisis.
