Society presents the Christian with a challenge. Our culture revolves around the idea of “doing it my way,” of exalting individualism and encouraging self–sufficiency and self–reliance. Unfortunately, this way is doomed to failure because it is too much to bear. We are overwhelmed by the demands that are placed upon us, and, very often, people literally “shut down” and become depressed.
