The Superpowers of

Courage and Sacrifice

Deuteronomy 31: 1-3; 6-8

Where did the idea of superheroes come from? Are there superheroes in the Bible? Let’s celebrate how God turns ordinary people into superheroes, who practice courage and are willing to sacrifice to transform the world...it’s never too late!

“Be strong and of good courage!”

Eastertide Offering Update

Rejoice with us!

Our goal was to raise $73,000 for our new social hall and renovation of our kitchen, bathrooms and offices ($55,000) and our General Fund ($18,000).

We have EXCEEDED OUR GOAL and already have raised $96,695!

If you have not yet participated, PLEASE KNOW THAT EVERY GIFT COUNTS!

We have recently had to use savings to purchase a new air conditioning system, and we have the summer months awaiting us, where we are always challenged to meet our General Fund expenses.

We are stretching ourselves right now to meet those opportunities!

THANK YOU to those who have already given so generously.

In honor and anticipation of your faithfulness, we would like to challenge ourselves to achieve a stretch goal of $113,000. This would be $40,000 above our original goal.

God has always been good to us at SunCoast MCC, always exceeded our expectations, and worked through us to achieve more than we had imagined.

As we reach out as never before to our community partners, and expand our space, we renew our commitment to be a radically welcoming church for all people --- and we welcome your participation in this Eastertide Offering.

Our celebration for the completion of this campaign will happen on Mother’s Day, May 14, 2023 - join us for a joyful time of worship and gratitude!

Unclutter Your Soul

Join us for Spiritual Practice in May (9, 16, 23 and 30), Tuesday mornings at 10:30. You can join either in person or virtually using the link below.

We will be using Trina McNeilly’s book by the same name.

She said, “Our minds and hearts are crowded...we stumble over unrealistic expectations of ourselves. Emotional pain, anxiety and everyday stresses are a constant “white noise” in our souls.”

With grace and humor, Trina helps us face some of the unnecessary mess of life in order to rise above it.

Let’s open the window, turn on the lights, breathe deeply!

Join Rev. Nancy for a time of prayer and sharing as we overcome the clutter of our souls! If you would like to purchase the book, you can order one from Amazon or see Kim. The cost is $15.

In recognition of May being Mental Health Awareness month, we have chosen a novel that deals with the depression borne of grief. Despite the seriousness of the topic, in A Man Called Ove, author Frederik Backman employs humor and sensitivity to show how engaging with those around us helps us move forward and find meaning following loss. A truly outstanding book! The zoom discussion will be Monday, May 15 at 7:00pm. The link will be in Staying Connected and on the website.

Update from Your Pastoral

& Congregational Care Team

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in our distress.

Therefore, we will fear nothing,

even if the earth gives way

and the mountains fall into the

heart of the sea,

even if the waters roar and foam

and the mountains tumble

with their surging.

God is our refuge and strength."

~Psalm 46:1-3
