Help us with planning June’s Worship Services
Theme: “Sing it Old, Make it New!
Hymns for Pride and Hope”
Help our Pastors and Worship Team plan worship for Pride month by letting us know a favorite song or hymn that you would like us to sing. We may add a verse or two to enhance our praise.
If you don’t know the name of your hymn or song, but only remember a line or the chorus, that’s fine too!
There are cards and a box in the church lobby, or you can submit using the link below.
Let’s sing our hearts out this coming June!

Unclutter Your Soul
Join us for Spiritual Practice in May (9, 16, 23 and 30), Tuesday mornings at 10:30. You can join either in person or virtually using the link below.
We will be using Trina McNeilly’s book by the same name.
She said, “Our minds and hearts are crowded...we stumble over unrealistic expectations of ourselves. Emotional pain, anxiety and everyday stresses are a constant “white noise” in our souls.”
With grace and humor, Trina helps us face some of the unnecessary mess of life in order to rise above it.
Let’s open the window, turn on the lights, breathe deeply!
Join Rev. Nancy for a time of prayer and sharing as we overcome the clutter of our souls! If you would like to purchase the book, you can order one from Amazon or see Kim. The cost is $15.

Venice Pride, Inc is hosting a community night on Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 5-7 PM at the Frances T. Bourne Jacaranda Public Library in Venice, Florida. Nationally known LGBTQ activist Zander Moricz will give a presentation on "The State of Curly Hair."
Zander Moricz attracted global media attention last year, as he publicly challenged school and State restrictions stemming from the “Don’t Say Gay” bill. In 2022, Zander was the President of his graduating class at Pine View School, a widely acclaimed school in Florida. He was also accepted to Harvard University. For his graduation speech, he was told that he had to censor his speech and to not refer to his LGBTQ activism. Zander worked around that with a very powerful metaphor, which he incorporated into his speech, about being discriminated against for having "curly" hair.
Moricz's charismatic speech instantly became viral and he was hosted in "Good Morning America" and other national news outlets.
Moricz was a previous recipient of the Venice Pride, Inc. scholarship. He is also the Executive Director of SEE Alliance (The Social Equity Through Education Alliance), a group involved in working with young people and energizing voters.
Join us for an enlightening evening with Zander Moricz, which will include time for questions and conversation.

In recognition of May being Mental Health Awareness month, we have chosen a novel that deals with the depression borne of grief. Despite the seriousness of the topic, in A Man Called Ove, author Frederik Backman employs humor and sensitivity to show how engaging with those around us helps us move forward and find meaning following loss. A truly outstanding book! The zoom discussion will be Monday, May 15 at 7:00pm. The link will be in Staying Connected and on the website.

even if the waters roar and foam
and the mountains tumble
with their surging.
God is our refuge and strength."
