2022 Christmas Stocking Campaign

The fireplace is up and stockings are ready for us to hang! SunCoast MCC church elves have been very busy this past week! Every year we invite our members and friends to remember SunCoast MCC in your holiday giving by placing a stocking on the fireplace in memory or honor of someone you love.

It is a time we invite everyone to make that significant year-end gift to our Church that is changing lives and history. You can use the link below to read more about how the Board of Directors is recommending the Christmas Offering be used to support not just SunCoast MCC but our community.

Advent and Christmas

Worship Series: November 27 through

 New Year, January 1

“Reflecting the Sacred”

This year, as we approach Christmas, we will gather to see the holy in all that has been and always will be – right here – reflected in everyone and everything around us. Based on the writings of Fr. Richard Rohr, each Sunday, and Christmas Eve, will be a time to soften our focus and blur the hard edges of our lives.

We will be hearing from our choir and drummers, special guests and instrumentalists, in a full, joyful program that reflects this sacred season.

More than ever, we need to open our hearts to see our lives as a reflection of God’s mysterious presence in Jesus.

“Sacred Knowing - Peace”

It’s not always easy to find peace in life. Our country and our world is riddled with unrest and war. During this season of Advent, Jesus is often referred to as the Prince of Peace. Is it possible to find peace amid so much unrest?

Are there actions we can take to facilitate greater peace in our lives. Join us Sunday as we explore the topic of peace.

Happy Hanukkah!

Hanukkah will begin the eveing of Sunday, December 18 and ends in the evening of Monday, December 26.

Kwanzaa is an annual celebration of African-American culture from December 26 to January 1, culminating in a communal feast called Karamu, usually on the sixth day. It was created by activist Maulana Karenga, based on African harvest festival traditions from various parts of West and Southeast Africa.

Calendar of Events

Tonight, Friday, December 16, we are having a potluck supper at 5:30 PM followed by the Blessing of our Christmas Nativity Creche.

You are invited to bring your Nativity Creche or just the three main figures – Jesus, Mary, Joseph – for a Blessing and Communion after our potluck supper. We would like to leave them in the Church until the following Sunday.

In this time of recovering from Hurricane Ian, some of our Church Family lost everything, including their Nativity set. If you have an extra set that you would like to give to someone; or, if you feel inclined to purchase a small set for someone, please bring them to the Nativity Creche Blessing.

Everyone is invited whether or not you have a Nativity Creche.

Christmas Eve Service

Saturday, December 24, 2022 at 4 PM

Join us on Christmas Eve as we celebrate the birth of Jesus with reading the Christmas story as found in various scripture passages. We will sing many of the old familiar Christmas Carols and hear some new songs! We will be joined by special musical guest Troy Messner who plays the French Horn! Our choir will be singing and the drumming group will be drumming. Rev. Rick will share a special reading from the perspective of the angels Gabriel and Michael as they watch the events of that holy night from above! It’s a wonderful light-hearted reading you won’t want to miss!

Welcome Troy Messner to the Christmas Eve Worship Servicd.

Originally from Lakeland, FL, Troy graduated from Lakeland High School in 1986, and then joined the US Marines for a four-year tour as a Marine. He was a military band musician stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. . In 2014 Troy retired as a Master SGT from active-duty service and moved to the Sarasota area and since then has enjoyed playing with a number of area groups.

Therefore, we will fear nothing, even if the earth gives way

and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,

even if the waters roar and foam

and the mountains tumble with their surging.

God is our refuge and strength."
