“Reflecting the Sacred”

This year, as we approach Christmas, we will gather to see the holy in all that has been and always will be – right here – reflected in everyone and everything around us. Based on the writings of Fr. Richard Rohr, each Sunday, and Christmas Eve, will be a time to soften our focus and blur the hard edges of our lives.

We will be hearing from our choir and drummers, special guests and instrumentalists, in a full, joyful program that reflects this sacred season.

More than ever, we need to open our hearts to see our lives as a reflection of God’s mysterious presence in Jesus.

"Sacred Love: People"

Our scriptures this Sunday continue in Romans, as Paul urges us to welcome one another into the community of Christ; and in Matthew’s telling of the story of John the Baptist, urging us to repent of all that is not God, that is not love and justice.

Fr. Richard Rohr writes, “God loves all things by becoming them...

“Let’s explore how God’s love for us, for every person, was manifest in Jesus’ becoming one of us...

And how can we become all things, and love not only those close to us, but those at a distance?

THE ARTS AS SPIRITUAL PRACTICE – INSPIRATION THROUGH MANIFESTATION

You are invited to participate and take away what may benefit you in a conversation with artist Terrence Joyce as he shares the creative process of transposing the message of a profound mystical Inspiration into artistic form.

The artist discloses the guiding principles and practices gifted to him for this aspiration by many generous seekers encountered within the spiritual and artistic communities his journey has led him through.

From wisdoms learned in a monastic Catholic seminary thru the turbulent and transformative Bohemian community of Greenwich Village and SOHO in the 1960’s and 1970’s, to the close friendship with an Indian saint and his disciples at their United Nations Peace Meditation mission the practices disclosed are both practical as well as secret and sacred.

The fireplace is going up, and stockings are ready for us to hang! SunCoast MCC church elves have been very busy this past week! Every year we invite our members and friends to remember SunCoast MCC in your holiday giving by placing a stocking on the fireplace in memory or honor of someone you love.

It is a time we invite everyone to make that significant year-end gift to our Church that is changing lives and history. You can use the link below to read more about how the Board of Directors is recommending the Christmas Offering be used to support not just SunCoast MCC but our community.

and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,

even if the waters roar and foam

and the mountains tumble with their surging.

God is our refuge and strength."
