Summer Preaching Series 2022

“How Firm a Foundation”

Based on the SunCoast MCC Foundational Scriptures

Foundations are a critical component in building a stable and secure structure. Without a firm foundation, the structure is at risk of failing and crumbling to the ground. Not only is having a firm foundation an integral component in a building structure but it also applies to churches, and not only the building, but the spiritual strength and vitality of its ministry. While churches need a firm foundation for their buildings, perhaps a more critical foundation is the principles and scriptures upon which the ministry of a church is built.

Did you know SunCoast MCC has foundational scriptures? Several of them are found on the beautiful artwork photos that decorate the hallways of our facility. Most of our foundational scriptures were literally written on stones and placed under the platform/chancel area of our church as it was being built! Through the summer months, our preaching series will focus on seven of our foundational scriptures! This series will inspire us to reflect upon the scriptures that Rev. Sherry and those who founded SunCoast felt were significant in the spiritual foundation of our wonderful church.

The first line of the hymn “How Firm a Foundation” says it well: How firm a foundation, for you has been laid, by God in the Word…” We look forward to seeing you throughout the summer for our “How Firm a Foundation” series!

Thank you, Doug Barry, for all you do to keep the history of SunCoast MCC alive and preserved.

“I Can Do All Things”

The Apostle Paul, in writing to the church in Philippi told the people that he had been through some difficult times. He shares how he knows what it’s like to have little and to have plenty; to be hungry and to be well fed. Yet, in it all, he encourages the church to rejoice and to reflect on things that are uplifting.

Can we, like Paul, do ALL things through Christ. Does it make any difference in our lives when we think about certain things? Does God supply ALL our needs?

Join us this Sunday as we begin our summer series: “How Firm a Foundation.” In this series we will be using some of the Foundational Scriptures that SunCoast MCC is both spiritually and physically built upon! This week, we will explore the concepts Paul puts forth in being able to do all things and whether or not what we think about has any effect on the outcome of our lives.

This summer, we invite everyone to join Rev. Rick and Rev. Nancy in a 4 part Bible Study.

When: July 20, 27, August 3 and 10

at 10:30 AM

In person, or by Zoom.

We invite everyone, including those on Zoom, to bring lunch, which we will share afterwards.

This study will be a little different.

We want to invite you to suggest topics for the study. Have you ever wondered what the Bible says about forgiveness? Or anger? Or about the afterlife? About politics and religion? About sex? About gender?

Maybe the Bible is really clear about all these things, or...maybe not...

And, does it matter what the Bible says, or which version you read?

You do not have to have any previous knowledge of the Bible, and if you don’t have one handy, there are plenty in our library...

We always have worthwhile conversation, and it is a great way to stay connected this summer. Come to one, or every session.

Use the link below to suggest a topic or complete the form found in the Church lobby.
