On June 24,1973, the deadliest fire in New Orleans’ history occurred in a small gay bar at 604 Iberville Street in the French Quarter. The Up Stairs Lounge was a refuge of love and acceptance in the New Orleans community until, in a matter of 19 minutes, it became a symbol of tragedy and rejection. Thirty-two people perished in the fire, and the New Orleans LGBT+ community was changed forever.
MCC New Orleans met at this location as they did not have a Church building.
The Pastor of MCC New Orleans died in the fire.

Social Justice "Brunch and a Matinee" |
We will be taking July off from book club, and will instead be having our second “Brunch & Matinee”. Following the worship service on July 16th, we will have a light brunch followed by a movie. In recognition of July being “Minority Mental Health Awareness Month”, our movie will be The Soloist starring Jamie Foxx. This powerful movie tells the story of a talented musician who is homeless and deals with mental illness. Following the movie, we will have a brief discussion about the intersection of homelessness, mental health, and discrimination. We are asking you to sign up by following the link below or in person after church. This will help us plan for room arrangement and food. We are requesting a $5 donation at the door to help pay for the meal. If you have any questions, contact Kim Rabon-Noyce at the church office.

We are starting our "Stuff the Bus with School Supplies" program. Again this year, we are collecting school supplies for two local Title 1 schools (Cranberry Elementary and Glenallen Elementary). Title 1 schools are those community schools with at least 60% or more whose families are at or below the poverty level and could use our help. Below is a list of items each school has requested. We will be collecting supplies until the end of July. Bring your donations to the Church.
