"Finally, all of you, be of one mind. Be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. Never return evil for evil, or insult for insult, but give a blessing instead. You were called to do this, to inherit a blessing yourself."~ 1 Peter 3:8-9

Thank you, Rev. Gene and Bill, for preparing the Sanctuary for PRIDE Month.
During June our country comes together to celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride month. We do this in honor of the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan, led by African American drag queens, which is considered the tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States,
The first Gay Pride Week and March and Parade in June of 1970 was meant to give the community a chance to gather together to commemorate the Christopher Street Uprisings of the last summer in which thousands of homosexuals went to the streets to demonstrate against centuries of abuse, from government hostility to employment and housing discrimination.
PRIDE Month provides us a time to honor the work that has been accomplished, celebrate who we are and support those who are unable to live as their authentic selves. Talking about Pride can make a huge difference in how we and others see the world.
We’ve come a long way in these fifty plus years, but we still have a long way to go!

Supporting Our Community and Our Future
Bruce O'Neill left SunCoast MCC a gift in his will. Because of his generosity, SunCoast is paying it forward by supporting the community and our members. As of today, SunCoast MCC has given:
- $2,000 to Vencie Pride, Inc. Scholarship Program
- $2,000 to CHAPS for their continued support of those impacted by HIV/AIDS and their families.
We were also able to use funds in the Rev. Sherry Kennedy Memorial to support Jenna Duranko on her journey of attending seminary school as she prepares for a ministry with UFMCC. Jenna received a check for $513.

Count Down to General Conference! Every 3 years, MCC has an amazing time for all MCC churches and members to gather from around the world for General Conference. This year, in light of the pandemic, General Conference will be virtual July 1st-3rd. Worship services are free, however, to attend the workshops and hear the Keynote Speakers, you need to register. Because it is online, you will have 6 months to watch all the workshops and speakers.
This is the cheapest General Conference you'll ever be able to attend (no hotel room required!) The cost is $300. You can register here. You will not want to miss this amazing opportunity!
| |
Please find below a link for registration for our Florida Network Gathering during the General Conference as we create a space to come together, celebrate, have a watch party with General Conference speakers, speak with members of the Governing Board, hear more about the incredible things happening in Florida, share in worship - and so much more!
Registration is now open and it is super affordable! AND there is an early-bird special - register now and save!
Details about the schedule and our social event / dance that kicks off our gathering on Thursday evening will be emailed to all registrants!
