Special Message from The Pastors

The US government has now revealed that gun related deaths are the greatest cause of death among children in our country. It used to be car accidents, but lawmakers created policies for car safety that brought that number way down. We must continue advocating for public safety policies so children can be safe.

In no other country in the world could a disturbed 18-year-old purchase assault weapons and take the lives of 19 children and 2 teachers, which happened this week at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. The children were mostly third and fourth graders.  The trauma this has caused to the families, the students and teachers who survived is unfathomable.

Some things cannot be prevented. These deaths could have been prevented. When we vote, we must prioritize our children, teachers and school employees. This is not political; it is a moral and public health issue. The majority of people in this country want things to change. Now, we have to insist on it. For those of us of faith, we must act in the name of a Jesus who loved children.

“EMERGE: Raising the Roof/Daring New Heights!”

We will be looking at two stories: One about Jesus’ Ascension into heaven just before Pentecost (Acts 1: 1-11)

And, the other a sweet story from Mark’s Gospel about friends helping a friend by raising the roof of the place Jesus was teaching and healing.

How are these stories connected, as we change and grow and emerge as a community of faith? How can we take wings and fly past any barriers as we follow Jesus?
