Thank You to All Our Veterans

Veterans Day is holiday dedicated to American veterans of all wars, and is celebrated annually on November 11th. In 1918, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, an armistice, or temporary halt to fighting, was declared between the Allied nations and Germany in World War I, then known as “the Great War.”
On November 11, 1921, an unidentified American soldier killed in the war was buried at Arlington National Cemetery near Washington, D.C. On the same day the previous year, unidentified soldiers were laid to rest at Westminster Abbey in London and at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.

"I Want to See Again"
How many times in our lives are we seeking a new “soul vision,” whether for ourselves, our families, or for our church?
When we can grasp onto that vision our whole life and focus changes. In our Gospel passage for this week, we find someone who claimed a new vision and received both physical and spiritual sight. We trust that Jesus can provide the same for us.
Likewise, our church is embarking on a new vision and a new season as we prepare to adopt and implement a strategic plan for the days ahead. May our way forward be God’s “soul vision” for us as a community.
Scripture: Ephesians 1:17-21, Mark 10:46-52

Transgender Awareness Week and Day of Remembrance
|
|
Transgender Awareness Week 2021
Each year between November 13th – 19th, people and communities around the country participate in Transgender Awareness Week to help raise visibility about transgender people and address issues members of the community face. The week leads up to Transgender Day of Remembrance which is November 20th.
What is Transgender Awareness Week?
Transgender Awareness Week is a week when transgender people and their allies take action to bring attention to the community by educating the public about who transgender people are, sharing stories and experiences, and advancing advocacy around the issues of prejudice, discrimination, and violence that affects the transgender community.
This is an annual observance on November 20th that honors the memory of the transgender people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence that year.

New SunCoast MCC Protocols for Onsite Worship
|
|
The Board of Directors regularly revisits the safety protocols in relation to COVID-19. We looked at the local statistics and noted the decrease in cases, hospitalizations, and deaths.
We welcomed this good news and we remain hopeful that we are headed toward better days concerning the virus.
While we are optimistic, we also want to remain cautious and phase in looser restrictions.
For now we will continue
- wearing masks
- using individual communion cups
AND, beginning soon, we will:
- enjoy more congregational singing during worship (with masks)
-
hold social time with refreshments outside starting Nov. 21st
- start Choir and drumming practices for fully vaccinated individuals on Dec. 8th; Both groups will be performing in worship (beginning on Dec. 19th)
The board will continue to watch the trends and, as long as they move in the right direction, will lessen restrictions along the way.
The board wishes to thank all of you for your patience and cooperation in our approach to use caution.
