Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month
Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15. We celebrate the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America.

The recognition started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period starting on September 15 and ending on October 15.

During National Hispanic Heritage Month, we recognize that Hispanic heritage is American heritage.  We see it in every aspect of our national life: on our television and movie screens, in the music that moves our feet, and in the foods we enjoy. We benefit from the many contributions of Hispanic scientists working in labs across the country to help us fight COVID-19 and the doctors and the nurses on the front lines caring for people’s health. Our Nation is represented by Hispanic diplomats who share our values in countries all over the world and strengthened by military members and their families who serve and sacrifice for the United States. Our communities are represented by Hispanic elected officials, and our children are taught by Hispanic teachers. Our future will be shaped by Hispanic engineers who are working to develop new technology that will help us grasp our clean energy future and by the skilled union workers who are going to build it.
National Hispanic Heritage Month is an important reminder of how much strength we draw as a Nation from our immigrant roots and our values as a Nation of immigrants. (Source: From the White House Proclamation on National Hispanic Heritage Month).

Richardson.

The course will be taught by Rev. Vickie and Rev. Nancy in person at the church, or you may participate through zoom.

DELAINE MCCORD (she/her)
is originally from Mississippi. and now lives in Maryland with her partner, Wil, and their 3 cats. Being the only black student in first grade, she was segregated from her white counterparts, with the other children who couldn’t be seen. That’s when she befriended children who had various physical and learning disabilities. Through this experience, she became aware of disparities in education, and it sparked her passion for social justice. During working hours, she’s a nurse specializing in addictions.
SunCoast MCC Protocols
With your help, we can work together to ensure the health and safety of all who enter our Church.

  • We ask that everyone wear a mask while in the Church. This is for your safety and the safety of others.

  • We will greet each other from a distance for now with no handshakes, hugs, fist pumps or elbow bumps.

  • Our Ushers will continue to offer to escort you to a seat, and if you prefer to maintain social distance, they will assist you.

  • There will be limited congregational singing.

  • We ask you to continue to avoid congregating inside the building before and after Worship.

  • And, of course, if you are sick or feel symptoms of COVID, please stay home and enjoy the service online or on YouTube.

Thank you all for your patience and cooperation.
