“Beguiled by Beauty:
The Beauty of a World Without a Why”
|
The beauty in the world and in other beings exists completely for itself – not for any reason other than that the joy of existence is the purpose of life. When we accept this, we tune into the raw delight in the world. As we let go of how everything relates to us, serves us, benefits us, we begin to appreciate all things for their own worth and beauty – a world beyond our control. When we turn this idea onto our own selves, we can let go of expectations for ourselves, accepting our own inherent beauty and worth. Readings: Songs of Songs 4:1-7; Matthew 22:35-40.

Happy Anniversary
Rev. Elder Cecilia Eggleston
|
On behalf of SunCoast MCC, our Pastors and Board of Directors we wish you a Happy Anniversary. Thank you for your service and leadership. We pray for your physical and spiritual well-being. We pray for your spouse, Orgena, and for your happiness together. We pray for God to guide you and MCC into the future.
A year ago, Rev. Nancy and Rev. Vickie led a contingent of SunCoast MCC family and friends to Orlando, FL for the MCC Global Conference. We were well represented.

In celebration of the first anniversary, Rev. Troy Perry (founder of MCC), Rev. Dr. Nancy Wilson (past moderator) and Rev. Cecilia Eggleston (present moderator) held a discussion about their journeys. Listen to this enlightening conversation on their strategic insights of what we've accomplished and the path for the future. We are grateful for their continued leadership and all they have contributed to MCC.

Discussion on Racism
Part II
|
Tuesday, July 14 at 6PM
We will focus on the work of educator Jane Elliott, who, in 1968, invented a way to help young white children understand racism, it is called "Blue Eyes,Brown Eyes".
We will be watching a more contemporary interview with Elliott by Jimmy Fallon during the class, and discussing her view and our responses. it is not necessary to view the older video to attend the class, but it would be helpful, it is a little less than 15 minutes.

Bible Study Series
"Half-Truths"
|
Tuesdays at 4:30PM
beginning on July 21
through August 11
They are simple phrases. They sound Christian—like some-thing you might find in the Bible. We’ve all heard or said these words. They capture some element of truth, yet they miss the point in important ways.
- Everything happens for a reason.
- God helps those who help themselves.
- God won’t give you more than you can handle.
- God said it, I believe it, that settles it.
- Love the sinner, hate the sin.
Join the pastors who will lead this class as we explore and unpack these “half truth” phrases

Saturday, July 25
4PM to 5:30PM
|
This promises to be a wonderful time of great fun, fellowship and an opportunity to see friendly/familiar faces. Since we all miss being together and seeing one another on Sunday and in the various activities in the life of our church and community, this is a fantastic way to say hi and connect!
- Dig out your favorite ugly Christmas shirt/sweater.
- Dig through your holiday recipes and be ready to talk about your favorite holiday treat. Find a Christmas ornament or decoration that is special and display it near you (you can share about it, too).
- We will have three prizes: first place $50 gift card, 2nd place $25 gift card and 3rd place $10 gift card.
- Be ready to email us your recipes so we can create a memory document of everyone’s favorite holiday.
Christmas is a wonderful time of birth and reflection. Even during these uncertain and uncharted times, we are thankful for what we have, especially our SunCoast MCC family and friends. Join as we spread some Christmas cheer.
