Loving Note from Your Pastors
|
Dear SunCoast Friends and Family:
Our drive-by blessings, a few weeks ago, was a poignant reminder of how much we miss meeting in person, and being able to greet and connect easily!
Our connecting and meeting now takes a little extra effort – to call, email, use Zoom, watch church online ... but we are learning!
The death rate from the virus has not yet peaked in the U.S. or in Florida. So, we are taking this one step at a time, working with the Board and a team, preparing for the day we can meet at the church safely. We did not wait for our government to tell us to stop having services on site – we did it a little early, and, that was wise for our congregation. We are going to listen to the scientists, and the expertise and wisdom of our denomination and others, to move forward.
Your well-being and safety, is our stance right now. We are people who know how to watch and pray and wait, and work for justice and equality. We waited a long time for marriage equality. For medications to help those with HIV/AIDS. For a new church home.
Still we can be active in our waiting. We can care, love, connect, express gratitude, encourage each other while we wait. We can wear masks, wash our hands, stay six feet apart. With God’s help, we can do it!
Grace, Peace and Love,
Rev. Vickie Miller and
Rev. Nancy Wilson

Join us for Sunday Worship
May 17 at 10AM (EST)
|
Sunday morning we move into a time of anticipating Pentecost, as we hear Jesus talking about the Advocate, the Spirit of Truth, that will come when he is gone.
Truth is one of the principles that we say is so important to SunCoast MCC – truth, trust and transformation! So, what is the Spirit of Truth? John’s Gospel mentions truth a lot – we will explore why, and what it means for us in these times of “fake news,” and alternate versions of reality. Oscar Wilde, the gay writer and humorist said, “Truth is rarely pure, and never simple.” Was he right? Let’s talk about truth this Sunday.

"SunCoast MCC Coronavirus
Check-in Survey" Update
|
Your voice counts!! On March 6, we launched a survey to check-in with you and get your input on reopening.
We asked nine questions relating to social distancing practices, the timing for in-person Worship, communications you prefer, level of personal worry, ways you are coping and what else we could do to be supportive to you and your loved ones.
We had a wonderful response. We closed the survey on March 12 with 86 individuals completing the survey. We are reviewing your responses, including over 300 individual comments. Your feedback will directly help us to formulate a reopen plan, as well as, continued enhancements to our virtual activities.
We are reviewing the results and shortly will share a summary with you. Thank you again for taking the time to complete the survey. We miss you and appreciate your input. Your feedback is a gift.
