The Passionate Jesus:
Did Jesus Have a Sense of Humor?
|
|
"Out of the believer’s heart shall flow rivers of living water.” - John 7:37-38
Authenticity, Love, Anger, Fear, Grief, Joy – emotions that are all very human and all very Jesus. This series affirms the role of human emotions and that Jesus – fully human as well as divine – indeed had emotions too.
|
As we conclude our series on the emotional life of Jesus, we conclude with the emotion of Joy. We will focus on the passage from Mark 10:13-16, in which Jesus invites noisy, sweet, messy, happy children to be blessed by him. We are not sure who is really blessing whom the most in this story! We will engage the ways in which Jesus’ humor is sometimes lost to us. We will appreciate how he expressed joy, how we can know true joy, and how joy can heal us.

"An Evening of Prayer for the Nation"
Monday – November 2 – 7PM
|
Sponsored by MCC Tampa and King of Peace, MCC
As the evening of our election draws near, many are feeling anxious and others simply uncertain. We hear God's call placed on our hearts from Matthew 18:20, "Where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them." Join us for a non-partisan Evening of Prayer for the Nation as we join together in community to pray.

As was communicated last week by Rev. Vickie and Rev. Nancy our SunCoast MCC family and friends are invited to watch the Service virtually or to attend it in-person at 10AM on Nov. 8, Dec. 6 and Dec. 13. (If you missed last week's announcement, check it out HERE.)
To maximize everyone's safety, a new ministry Outward Bound has been formed to manage the logisitics and safety protocols. This team grew out of the Reopening Team that was formed in April 2020 to assist SunCoast with navigating the impacts of COVID-19 on the life of our community.
Six things to know about these Services:
-
Learn more about the Outward Bound Ministry HERE. We thank Linda Staib and Rebecca Wilson (Co-Leaders) and to everyone that is volunteering to make these outdoor Services possible. (If you are interested in volunteering, send us an email HERE.)
- Register in advance if you plan on attending the outdoor Services in-person.
- Wear a mask at all times, follow signage and instructions by our volunteers. They will be wearing a rainbow mask and/or a yellow vest.
- Resist the (natural) temptation to shake hands and hug.
- Arrive at the established time and leave promptly when the event ends.
- If you are not feeling well or have been around others who are ill, we ask that you not attend the outdoor Service and instead to watch it virtually.
We will continue to provide you more details on what you can expect at these in-person outdoor Services along with the links and any other details you may need if you are participating virtually.
For now, please go ahead and register to attend the in-person outdoor Service for:

SunCoast MCC Hires an Office Manager
We are excited to announce that Kim Rabon-Noyce will join our SunCoast MCC staff in the role of Office Manager. While we are still working through the details and timing of her official start date, we know that Kim will make a tremendous difference in our capacity to do so many good things for the present and future of SunCoast MCC.
Kim brings a wealth of experience and talents, including data analysis and planning, communications, team work, project planning, teaching, writing skills, sports coaching, budgeting, administration and technology.
Prior to joining SunCoast MCC, Kim’s work experience included serving as a Principal at a High School and other managerial roles in academia. She holds a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She is married to Tammy and they have two children and two grandchildren.
Most recently, she has been an active member of the Recording and Worship teams. She and her wife, Tammy are leading our Programming team and have sponsored many favorite virtual events including TRIVIA, Pictionary, Scavenger Hunt and the upcoming Halloween Movie Night. Along with other volunteers Kim painted and refreshed the Sanctuary.
We thank Kathy Hanas, Vice Moderator for serving as the interim Office Manager and to the Office Manager Selection Committee that included Jack Hutter, Board member and Yolanda deJesus, Lay Delegate. We will keep you posted on Kim's official start date. Join us in welcoming Kim.
