San Mateo Presbyterian Church is a very small but active church.
We have a tradition for over 75 years of having the children's Christmas lay on Christmas Eve. This year we will have children and grandchildren in the play that their parents were in when they were young. We have an adult bible school class that is about 20 people and starts at 9:15 . We also have class for the younger ones as well.
We have a Christmas Cantata every year.
We offer themed Fellowship Dinners on the last Sunday of the month.
In September we had an apple theme equipped with an apple bar!
October were pumpkins and November was Pastor Appreciation geared to a THANKFUL theme! December will be New Years.
We also have activities on the second Friday of the month. One month was a movie (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - we had a chocolate fountain), next month was game night (so fun) and then we had Advent wreath making.
We ask people to bring snacks to share. We have a bible study for them to do daily during lent at home. We will start again with Movie night on December 14th and everyone is to bring cookies for our cookie table!
We have Sonshine boxes for the sick or depressed or homebound. They are yellow boxes filled with yellow HAPPY items. Some might be a cup with a can of soup, candy, books, puzzles etc...
We have youth that participate in our service as candlelighters, offering , bible readings and the ringing of our dear old bell. Is the favorite because of its OLD age ;it must be rung gracefully and carefully . Our elderly gentlemen see to it that it is done correctly and it is a privilege to ring.
We have supported The Rodheaver Boys Ranch, Bread of Life Soup Kitchen, Families at Christmas, Browning Pearce Elementary School, and Presbytery Missions over the years.
Our music is incorporated with traditional and praise music.
We have Gingerbread making times once a year and an egg hunt.
