Cluster Gatherings

It is always a joy when we have time to break bread and share table fellowship with each other. The upcoming cluster gatherings with locations, dates, and times are listed below. The invitation is open to all ministers and commissioned ruling elders.

While some of the establishments we visit do not take reservations, David would love it if you would let him know you are going to attend- david@staugpres.org.  He gets reservations where he can and lets each restaurant know at least an estimate of how many will be there.

Thornwell has been providing for families, children, and communities for over 150 years. They have many programs where they seek to provide safe and nurturing environments where they can educate, equip and support children and families to thrive. See the needed supply list below for a way to support their ministry.

The Rev. Dr. Jim Black of Mayport Presbyterian Church is retired but he is also an author. He has a brand new book entitled "Thinking Christians And Our LGBT Neighbors." He is hoping to invite readers to revisit the Bible.

"Perhaps they may learn something they never thought about before. This may lead to more understanding and compassion due to more understanding."

- Jim Black

Some of his books are available for purchase on amazon. Click on the book images to order.

This year we would like to celebrate some of what each of our churches are doing in mission and ministry.

Have you published anything that may be helpful to pastors or churches? We would be happy to let others know.

If you have a mission project or outreach program that you would like to highlight, please send us a photo or two and a brief description of the effort.

Each week we will showcase a different ministry. Please email that information to Jennifer at reception@staugpres.org

What’s Happening at Montgomery?

Preparing the Space for What’s Ahead

Simple ways you can make a big impact before campers arrive

As summer approaches, preparation at Montgomery shifts from planning to doing.

This year’s theme, “In the Wilderness,” invites us to reflect on the spaces where growth happens—often not in comfort, but in trust, discovery, and dependence on God. Camp has always been a place where that kind of transformation can take root.

Spaces are being readied. Supplies are being gathered. Final touches are underway to ensure that every camper who arrives is welcomed into a place that feels safe, cared for, and full of possibility.

And this work doesn’t happen alone.

It happens because a community steps in—offering time, resources, encouragement, and care in ways both big and small.

Adopt-a-Staff-Member: One meaningful way to support this summer is by participating in our Adopt-a-Staff-Member program.

You or your church can encourage a staff member through notes, small care packages, and prayer throughout the summer.

Commissioning: Each year, one of our presbytery churches invites the summer staff to be commissioned into ministry for the season. This year’s commissioning should take place on either June 7 or June 14. Contact us today if your congregation would like to welcome the staff for this important service in the life of the ministry.

Camp Chaplains: We are also seeking a Camp Chaplain for Session 3 (the week of June 28). Camp Chaplains provide spiritual leadership and pastoral presence for campers and staff throughout the week. More information is available at https://www.montgomerycenter.org/summer-staff

📧 Email info@montgomerycenter.org for more information about either opportunity.

Summer Wish List & Volunteer Projects

There are also practical needs that help camp run smoothly day to day.

There are also practical needs as we prepare our spaces and programs. Many of these are simple items that make a big difference in daily camp life. Here are some of our most immediate needs:

Hammocks & straps

Used picture frames

Used guitar

Glow sticks

Volleyballs & ball pumps

Friendship bracelet string

Acrylic paint & tie-dye kits

Exterior paint (container cabins)

Potted cedar trees for planting (6)

Volunteer opportunities include:

Painting inn room doors and the main kitchen

Building or repairing trail benches

Re-buoying Emerald swim area

Setting up beach volleyball improvements

📧 Email info@montgomerycenter.org (subject: Wish List or Volunteer) to get involved.

Still Time to Join In

There is still space for campers this summer, and we would love to welcome them.

We are also filling a few remaining summer staff positions, especially cabin counselors.

Before the first camper arrives—before the first song is sung or the first game is played—there is already a quiet kind of ministry happening here.

It looks like preparation.

It looks like generosity.

It looks like people choosing to show up.

And it makes everything that follows possible.

Thank you for the many ways you continue to support Montgomery—not just in words, but in action.

With gratitude,

Rebekah Rodgers

Are you called to serve God at the presbytery level? Several of our committees have positions that we need to fill to carry out our mission. We are looking for ruling elders and teaching elders that have time and energy to serve Christ beyond the local church.
