THE EXCITEMENT IS GROWING

Champion Sponsor

Mr. Ron Courtney

We're thrilled by the enthusiastic response to our 90th anniversary Gala Celebration which will take place on November 15, 2025 at the Event Center at Christ the Light Cathedral in Oakland. (Free indoor parking at the Event Center is provided.) Tables are selling fast, but there is still time to sponsor and reserve a table.

In addition to our Champion Sponsor, Ron Courtney, we'd like to thank Beacon of Light Sponsors Mary Bertolotti, Steve Burke, and the dePorres Unit, St. Monica Catholic Church.

We know you'll enjoy meeting and hearing from our honorary guest speaker, beloved former SF Giants pitcher Dave Dravecky. Dave will share how his faith carried him through adversity to renewed purpose.

Staying Safely Housed after Job Loss

Terrie reached out to Catholic Charities after being laid off in January. The sudden loss of income made it difficult for her to keep up with rent, placing her at risk of losing her housing. Our experienced Housing Supervisor, Dora, partnered with Terrie to advocate on her behalf and help stabilize her housing situation, ultimately preventing eviction.

Terrie says that working with Dora was a "seamless process" and that Dora was an "important partner" for her throughout it. She thanks God that Catholic Charities was there for her when she needed assistance.

Today, Terrie works seven days a week at two part-time jobs to make ends meet. We hear from so many of the hard-working people we help that this is often what it takes in today’s expensive housing market.

At Catholic Charities, we are grateful that, thanks to you, we can be there for our neighbors during challenges. You, and our many supporters, make the difference.

Terrie's Thank You Note to Catholic Charities

"I hope this message finds you well.

I am writing to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation for the exceptional support I received from Dora. Throughout the process of my rental assistance application, Dora has demonstrated remarkable professionalism, patience, and compassion.

She consistently communicated with clarity, answered my questions thoroughly, and made me feel supported every step of the way. Her dedication and genuine care made a difficult time much more manageable, and I truly believe she is an invaluable asset to your team.

Please extend my thanks to Dora and let her know how much her assistance has meant to me. It's rare to encounter someone who brings both heart and skill to their work the way she does.

Thank you again for the important work your organization does for the community."

Fiscal Year 24-25 Impact

Because of you, Catholic Charities East Bay continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our neighbors throughout Alameda and Contra Costa counties. As we reflect on the impact YOU are making during our fiscal year - May 2024 through April 2025 - we're proud to share a few highlights. You have many choices when it comes to giving, and we are honored you chose to support this work. We are committed to stewarding your gift with the care, transparency, and integrity you deserve.

Thank you Nancy Cecconi

On Friday, July 26, the Catholic Charities Board of Directors honored fellow long time Board member, Nancy Cecconi, whose term has expired.

Nancy Cecconi is a medical professional who took the time in her busy life to volunteer. We are grateful that she volunteered her time and talent on the Board of Directors. Nancy had a key role working closely with our Chief Program Officer, Dr. Lisa Carlisle, to focus on the ways that Catholic Charities directly impacts our community through service.

We wish Nancy all the best with her many interests. We're grateful for her continued help planning our 90th Gala.

We know that Nancy will continue to do good for our neighbors in Alameda and Contra Costa counties.

Nancy is standing next to the banner in the above photo. The photo includes some of her fellow Board members and our CEO and CFO.
