The Importance of Keeping a Strong and Healthy Mind
Governor Whitmer recently announced a partnership with Headspace to offer a new website, Stay Home, Stay Mindful . Michiganders across the state can access a specially-curated collection of science-backed, evidence-based guided meditations, along with at-home workouts that guide people through mindful exercises and kids content to help address rising stress and anxiety. 

Need Help Filing an Unemployment Insurance Claim?
The Unemployment Insurance Agency has a series of how-to videos to help navigate the unemployment system and assist you with filing a claim. Keep in mind, it’s best to apply online during non-peak hours, between 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. The 24-hour website operates faster when fewer people are on the site. Visit Michigan.gov/UIA to get started.

Business Accelerator Fund Services Expanded To Support Additional Companies
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Lansing Economic Area Partnership (LEAP) announced that the state of Michigan has expanded eligibility requirements for the Business Accelerator Fund (BAF). The expanded program will support small, non-tech companies making personal protection equipment (PPE) or medical supplies, high-tech companies whose product or service is directly fighting COVID-19, and existing accelerator clients whose survival is directly threatened by the pandemic. Online Learning Sessions
ESD's online educational series continues on May 5 with a session called Engineering Standards and Professional Skills . These sessions fill up quickly so register early. Be Very Aware: COVID-19 & Other Scams Targeting Businesses
ESD members are invited to join a special webinar on April 29 at 2 p.m. to learn how cyber criminals are taking advantage of businesses and what you can do to ensure you don't fall victim. Kristin Judge, Founder and CEO of Cybercrime Support Network will share what not to do and how to find help - it has something to do with now being able to call 211!

ESD Events
ESD spring and summer events have been rescheduled for later this year. Our first event, ESD's Annual Golf Outing , will take place on August 31. Mark your calendar and plan to join us for a fun day of networking in support of engineering. Check out ESD's website for all of our rescheduled events.

ESD Celebrates 125 Years of Serving Members
As you may know, ESD was founded 125 years ago this May. To honor the occasion, ESD is planning several events this fall including a Diamond Luncheon which will bring together members who have been with ESD 30 years or more for an afternoon of camaraderie! We’ll let you know as soon as we have a date. In the meantime, you may hear from our Member Services Specialist, Fran Mahoney. Fran is calling members to keep in touch and offer assistance during this stay-at-home time. ESD AFFILIATE SOCIETY EVENTS

The IEOM International Society is planning a virtual conference for August 11 – 13, 2020, at Lawrence Technological University in Southfield. This forum is for academics, researchers, scientists and practitioners to exchange ideas and provide insights into the latest developments and advancements in the fields of Industrial Engineering and Operations Management.

Join the USGBC for their 2020 monthly First Friday Webinar education series. The May 1 session, LEED v4 Quality Views: A Comprehensive Analysis, was developed to educate design professionals on the amendments of LEED v4 BD+C in comparison to its earlier editions, and will allow participants to understand the core reasons behind these changes.

I'm sure you'd agree that these last few weeks have been very difficult. But, it is abundantly clear that the ESD community is strong and will withstand this together to come out stronger than before. Until next time, let’s continue coming together and helping each other.
