Getting your money's worth

Periodic audits of dryer section steam and condensate systems are necessary to keep up with ever increasing energy costs, tonnage requirements, quality and grade changes. Even a change in press section performance can throw off the efficiency of your steam and condensate system.

Fulton Systems' proprietary computer modeling provides comprehensive reporting of paper machine drying efficiencies and comparison to industry standards. Our reports are individually generated specifically for each paper machine. Our on machine surveys are structured to mill specific objectives, MRO, and energy optimizaton.

Here are typical audit objectives...

Quantify the dryer efficiency and capability. This is accomplished by establishing dryer heat and fluid mass flow balances. The dryer's actual performance can then be compared with other machines producing the same or similar grades.

Illustrate performance of future operating conditions. Using the above information and knowing how other machines perform at these conditions, realistic predictions can be made.

Identify problem areas in the drying sections. When necessary, the survey will focus on problem areas based upon mill identified quality, steam efficiency, and production needs.

Make recommendations for improvements. From an understanding of your goals, we can provide recommendations and, if desired, a proposal to modify your steam and condensate system to assist you in realizing these goals

Efficiency, Efficiency, Efficiency

Let's face it, if you could make paper without a steam and condensate system, you would. And it is not that millions of dollars and countess hours of research have been spent trying to eliminate steam and condensate.

So, until somewhere in the future someone creates a breakthrough in this area, you will need to operate a steam and condensate system efficiently and economically.

Fulton Systems has been one of our clients for many years. We find them to be knowledgeable, competent, curious, and prompt. We urge you to contact them for your steam systems needs.
