From the Principal
Dear Steele families,

It is times like these that make me even more grateful to be a part of the Steele community. It is impressive how many of you have come together to support and lift each other up. Please don't hesitate to reach out for things you need. We are here for you!

With Governor Polis's recent announcement that schools will remain closed until April 17th, I know you are concerned about what that means for your child's education. Things are moving quickly and we are doing our best to  deal with each new curve ball. We all want our students to grow and thrive during this uncertain time. The extended break continues until April 7th. Teachers have shared some optional resources to support learning during this time. After the 7th, we will move to a virtual learning model. More information about what that entails will be coming shortly.

As you may have heard, all state testing has been canceled for this year. This means that students in grades 3-5 will not take CMAS which had been scheduled for April. Hopefully, this news will take a little of the stress off of our students during this time.

We will continue to send the Stallion Press each week. If you have pictures or stories of your time in isolation that you'd like to share with the community, please send them to me. We are going to need to be a bit creative in how we connect until we see each other again. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this time with your families.

Take care,

Hey Steele families,

Let's all take a deep breath as we navigate this new situation. Steele is more than a brick and mortar school...we are a community! If you have not already joined the  Steele Elementary Private Group on Facebook...this is a great time to do so. This is an easy way to stay connected, post ideas and share stories that make us feel closer.

We will look to DPS for any formal instruction but let's look to each other for informal learning ideas! Science projects, outdoor learning and creative writing...share your stories, your expertise and your passions.

All planned Steele PTA functions will be halted until school resumes according to DPS policy and we will update accordingly. Currently that means the Wash Park Home Tour has been canceled until 2021 and all planned Steele Exclusives will be postponed and rescheduled if possible.

Stay Steele strong!
Best, Crissy & Kim
