From the Principal
Dear Steele families,

We hope week two of remote learning has been a little smoother than week one. Thanks for providing feedback on your remote learning experience. If you missed the response to feedback sent out earlier this week you can find it here. If you need support during the week, check out our Remote Learning Support Plan for who to call.

Are you looking for a way to be more involved at Steele? Do you enjoy engaging in conversations about our school's goals and budget? Then join our CSC! Each year, Steele elects families to be part of our Collaborative School Committee (CSC).

CSCEvery school within the Denver Public School District has a CSC in place.  The CSC brings together staff, parents, students, and community members to create and implement a plan to promote high achievement within the school.

Being a part of the CSC is an exciting opportunity to be involved in our school community, not to mention to participate in the education of all our students.  Our school is working towards some great goals and we believe that by working together, we can achieve them!

This year we have two openings on our CSC.  We meet the second Tuesday of  every month at 4:30 and may have a few extra meetings during the month of February through April.  We ask that CSC members participate in the meetings and commit to being a member for two years.

If you are interested in your name being placed on the ballot for one of the family representative openings, please fill out the CSC nomination form below and email it to Ali Sweeney by April 30th. What you write on your form will be used on the ballot so families can learn more about you.

Yearbook Accepting Remote Learning Photos Until 4/24
We are still accepting photos for the yearbook and would love to have some e-learning photos to add now that so many of our usual school events have been cancelled.  You can share your photos for the Steele Yearbook at  https://steeleyearbook.shutterfly.com/

When you first click on the link, you will need to sign up for a free account and request to be a user on the site. Both security measures are to ensure only Steele families have access. Any yearbook questions can be sent to  Dara Johnson or  Melissa Nawrocki.

Be a Part of Our Virtual Community!
Keep up to date with community updates, listen to teachers and staff sharing their favorite books in Stallion Story Time, share your own photos and stories, and maintain our connections on Steele's social networking pages.  Both our Facebook and Instagram are private pages for Steele families only.  Just follow the links to join!

boardelectionsPTA Board Elections, 4/29
Elections will be taking place the last week of April. Since we will not be back to school, our plan is to do a Survey Monkey with all interested candidates.   Only paid PTA members are eligible to vote. The election Survey Monkey will be posted in an upcoming Steele Stallion/Steele Extra. You can pay your membership dues on the Membership Toolkit website.

firstdayPre-Order School Supplies by 7/1
For the 2020-21 school year, we are continuing our partnership with  1st Day School Supplies.  Families can purchase kits which will be delivered to your child's classroom teacher.  Steele will receive a small number of free kits based on the number of families who order through this service. We have extended this year's deadline to order by two weeks to July 1.  We understand these are difficult times and if you find that purchasing supplies is a hardship, please reach out to your teacher or  Marti Rosenberg to reserve a free/or reduced cost kit. Contact our school supply coordinator  Johanna Woodrow with any questions.
To submit information to this newsletter, send it in edited, final-draft format to the appropriate person listed below by 5 PM on Wednesdays:
For all other questions, please email Jessica Meehan and Sarah Almy Moore (parent volunteers) at  [email protected]
