From the Principal
Dear Steele families,

We miss you! We know that this is a challenging time to connect and so we made you this little video to remind you how much we care.  Steele Strong !

The Steele specials team has been working to respond to your feedback and ensure that students are having the best possible experience. Moving forward, they will be uploading assignments on Monday with a Friday due date. We hope that this will provide families the flexibility they need while also inspiring our students to grow and push outside of academics.

Last week, DPS Superintendent Susana Cordova shared some updates about grading policies during remote learning. Read this letter to learn what this means for Steele.

Caught in the Acts look a bit different right now, but we are still celebrating students who are doing the right thing. Check out this week's Caught in the Act Winners . If they missed their names being called on the announcements, you can see it here .

Stay healthy!

nationalfielddayFrom Coach Welch: Save the Date for National Field Day, Friday, 5/8!
Field day must go on!  We're excited to announce that the Steele community will be participating in the Open National Field Day event on Friday, May 8th.  Field Day is an important tradition at Steele, and during these incredibly challenging times, this national event is a unique way to stay connected as a community and support one another.

All #NationalFieldDay events are designed to be done indoors or outdoors using common household items.  We'll collect photos from Steele families to share our celebrations with one another. Let's all join in the spirit of Field Day on the 8th!

firstdayPre-Order School Supplies by 7/1
For the 2020-21 school year, we are continuing our partnership with  1st Day School Supplies.  Families can purchase kits which will be delivered to your child's classroom teacher.  Steele will receive a small number of free kits based on the number of families who order through this service. We have extended this year's deadline to order by two weeks to July 1.  We understand these are difficult times and if you find that purchasing supplies is a hardship, please reach out to your teacher or  Marti Rosenberg to reserve a free/or reduced cost kit. Contact our school supply coordinator  Johanna Woodrow with any questions.
