Diamond Steele Sponsors
From the Principal
Dear Steele Families,
It was so wonderful to welcome students back to the building this week! We started the new year off with our January Stallion Stampede. This month we are focusing on learning from our mistakes. We all read the book Ish, by Peter H. Reynolds, and discussed the following big idea and focus questions:
Big Idea:
How can I learn from my mistakes?
Focus Questions:
Is it okay to make mistakes?
What next steps can I take when I make a mistake?
What advice can I give to a friend who has made a mistake?
Learning from our mistakes is some of the most important work we do here at school. We hope you continue this great conversation at home.
DPS has recently adjusted their quarantine protocol to match CDC’s new recommendations. Here are the basics:
Quarantine Updates:
Instruct the individual to stay home for 5 days after the last day of exposure. After 5 days are completed at home, the individual may return to work/school.
Wear a mask around others for 10 days.
Consider testing on day 5 if possible.
EXEMPTIONs from Quarantine:
Both parties, if students, masked at the time of exposure OR
Has been boosted OR
Has completed the primary series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine within the last 6 months OR
Has completed the primary series of J&J vaccine within the last 2 months OR
Has tested positive for COVID-19 within the past 90 days
When in doubt, call the office and we’ll help you figure it out.

Steele Dines Out
Our next Steele Dines Out is at Fire On The Mountain on South Logan! This was a very successful and delicious SDO last year! Mark your calendars for Tuesday, January 18th 11am-9pm to feed the family and support Steele as 10% of sales (not just Steele) will support our school!
Grocery Loyalty Card Fundraiser:
Every year Steele raises funds when families simply shop for their groceries at King Soopers and Safeway. Please join the program to give back to Steele while you shop! Learn more here.
Winter Weather Procedure and Transportation Reminders:
As the colder weather arrives, we want to make sure you have the information you need for when weather affects the school day. Please note that the decision to close or delay school will be made by the superintendent based on information provided by representatives from DPS Transportation Services, transportation agencies and the weather bureau.
DPS is committed to informing you about school closures or delays as early as possible – with the goal to make the call by 5 a.m. This flier explains how Transportation Services operates if school is canceled or goes remote because of weather. Learn more about our weather delay and cancellation procedures here.
