Dear Steele Families,
As we begin the month of gratitude I find myself continually reflecting on how much better things are this November than they were last year. While we haven’t fully made it through this pandemic, at least we are all together and school feels like school again. We are slowly easing back into the normal swing of things and it can only get better now that kids as young as 5 are able to receive the COVID vaccine. We are very excited for what this extra immunity can mean for our kids and are committed to making sure we work with families throughout the process.
- Any absences related to receiving the vaccine will be excused.
- We will help monitor students for any type of reaction if they come to school after receiving the vaccine. Let your teacher know if your child is coming to school soon after getting vaccinated so we can keep a close eye on them.

Have a great weekend!
Marti

Steele Picture Retake Day will be on November 11th. If your student needs retakes, sign up at the bottom of the page here by 11/10.

Masks:
As a reminder, masks are required in all DPS schools for both employees and students, regardless of vaccination status. Please remind your students to wear their masks and keep them up over their noses throughout the day. Our specials team and many 2nd educators see all students at Steele and are therefore exposed to every COVID case we report. We want to ensure that our staff and students feel safe at school and masks are a big part of that this year. We appreciate your support!
|
Steele Dines Out (SDO):
Come stuff yourself with Sushi and raise money for Steele at Hapa Cherry Creek on Monday, November 15th, 4-9pm.
The fundraiser will raise 20% back to Steele and dine-in, to-go, and on-line orders will all be accepted.
Hapa encourages reservations for those planning to dine-in and be sure to mention STEELE Elementary. For Online Ordering, please add a note on the final page where it asks for "any comments" that says "Steele Elementary Fundraiser" on the final comment page.

Transportation During Inclement Weather:
With snow and ice on the way, we want to keep the DPS community informed on current transportation conditions. We are still experiencing a significant driver shortage, despite our increased hiring efforts with signing bonuses. Historically, bad weather days lead to an additional drop in driver attendance -- so to be prepared, we will stagger transportation based on our resources in order to get students to school safely. What does this mean for you? When there is inclement weather, please expect some routes to be 45-60 minutes late. We will notify you about delayed service as early as possible. If you have any questions, email [email protected] or call 720-423-4600
